Ashley Darby Shares a “First” That Just Took Place at Her New House (PICS)
The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member has some garden-fresh news to share about her new home.
Ashley Darby is reaping the benefits of having a yard. After moving from her sleek city penthouse to a home in Arlington, Virginia, The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member has experienced a delicious “first.” In a recent video posted to her Instagram Stories, Ashley shared the big news with her followers — and with her 3-year-old son, Dean.
Ashley Darby reveals her big “first”
Ashley’s June 20 post saw her standing outside, wearing a ruffled gray T-shirt and showing off a pastel-tinged beauty look. But that’s not all she showed off.
“This is the first tomato that just came off of our plant,” the mother of two shared, victoriously holding up a garden-fresh fruit. “It’s pretty soft,” Ashley continued, squeezing the tomato.
Then she showed it to Dean, her assistant gardener. “This is our first tomato, Dean! Our first tomato,” Ashley said, letting him hold it. “We grew that tomato! You and me. High five, dude.” The proud expression on Dean’s face could not have been any more precious. (In fact, it made us want to squeeze his cheeks like a ripe tomato!)
Ashley went on to explain that she has some green tomatoes currently growing in her garden. “We’re waiting for them to turn red,” she said.
And when Dean questioned the orange hue of the tomato she’d plucked, Ashley gave him a little lesson in tomato skin color. “It’s meant to be red,” she said. “It’ll turn red soon as it ripens, gets ripe.” It sounds like Ashley and her kids will have plenty of tomatoey snacks in their future.
Ashley’s Life as a Homeowner
This isn’t the first time Ashley has updated her followers about her life as a homeowner, and she has spoken before about how excited she is to finally have a yard. Back in February, she shared in an Instagram Story: “I’m looking forward to… teaching my kids about being outside and how to maintain a lawn, which I’m still learning myself. We’ll learn together.”
Around that time, she also discovered her innate handiness. When faced with flailing power and hot water, she figured out how to turn both of them back on.
“I know it’s a small thing, but that was so big for me,” she said in an Instagram Story. “I really felt a little helpless, like, where do I start? And, yeah, I figured it out! There will be many more things like that, I’m sure. Many more things for me to learn.”
Life in the burbs is definitely a change from Ashley’s previous living situation. Check out her former penthouse — where there were more pool cues than tomatoes — in the clip above.
