Ashley Darby Opens Up About a Major Hair Mishap: "This Is Not OK" (EXCLUSIVE)
Ashley Darby reflected on one of her most buzzed-about RHOP interview looks.
Ashley Darby always rocks a glamorous look on The Real Housewives of Potomac. There are a few style moments, however, that the mom of two regrets.
On the November 17 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Ashley spoke to some of those regrets during a game of "OG or Not For Me." For the game, Ashley and fellow guest Teresa Giudice looked back on typical Housewife tropes or scenarios and shared their view on the matter via "OG" or "Not For Me." For the first question, host Andy Cohen asked the ladies if there was "one specific confessional look that haunts [them] today."
Ashley definitely had something in mind, flashing her "OG" sign to signal she agreed with the statement. "I'm gonna guess that wig is yours?" Andy asked Ashley, referring to the short curly 'do Ashley rocked in Season 4 of RHOP.
During Part 1 of the Season 4 RHOP reunion, Ashley shared her thoughts on that wig. "It wasn't the best look for me," she confessed. "It's funny, my mom has the exact same wig. I gave it to her."
Ashley Darby Reacts to Criticism of Her RHOP Season 4 Interview Look
During a recent interview with The Daily Dish, Ashley spoke more about that wig moment, granting more details about the original idea behind the look.
"I can't necessarily say I regret it but the world didn't like when I was wearing the pink dress with the curly wig bangs," she shared. "I was supposed to look like Gabrielle Union — that was the inspiration photo and clearly I looked more like Rick James."
Ashley continued: "This was when I was pregnant. I was so big and swollen with [my son] Dean, so I was just like, ‘Girl put that thing on my head,’ and actually in hindsight, someone should have been like, ‘This is not OK.’"
Ashley also noted that it was her "only hair option" at the time. "Honestly, I could have been wearing a burlap sack, and I just sort of…yeah. It was a bit of a challenging time," she shared. "My body was literally swelling up from her pregnancies and I was just not feeling it. But clearly, she's not my hairstylist anymore."
We think Ashley looks stellar no matter what she does, but we were especially taken with her look on last night's WWHL: a sleek straight 'do she paired with moodier makeup, a white button-down shirt, and an open bow tie. Sexy, sophisticated, and stunning.
