Ashley Darby Teases a "Very Big Step" in Her Split from Michael Darby: "Feeling Good"
The RHOP cast member opened up about her years-long separation from her husband: "It’s a point of grieving."
Ashley Darby is apparently one step closer to divorce.
More than two years after announcing her split from Michael Darby, The Real Housewives of Potomac mom confirmed she and the Aussie-born businessman were still legally married. Ashley addressed the separation during an appearance on Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast, admitting she doesn't know when she’ll become a divorcee.
Does Ashley Darby have a timeframe for her divorce?
“It’s hard out here, OK?” she said in the November 15 interview. “I wish that I could put a time stamp on it — everybody wants me to, in relation to this divorce.”
Ashley, who married Michael in May of 2014, said her marital split was much more emotional than she anticipated, which isn’t too surprising as the couple shares two young sons, Dean Michael and Dylan Matthew.
“It’s a point of grieving,” she continued. “I even went through a little bit of a depression, thinking about where my life is now versus what I thought it was going to be, just coming to terms with that. And as much as I just wanted to be a bad b-tch… in actuality, it was still really hurting me.”
Has Ashley made progress in her divorce proceedings?
Thankfully, Ashley managed to pull through the emotional lows with the help of her therapist and friends.
“I will say that now I’m in a much better place,” the Potomac mom said before teasing a move in her years-long separation. “I did something very big, actually, this week. I can’t quite share with you yet but it was a very big step I took this week. I shed a tear or two but I’m feeling good otherwise.”
Ashley says she's eager to re-enter the dating scene
Ashley spoke about her estranged relationship in the RHOP Season 9 premiere, explaining why she had yet to file divorce papers. The episode followed the Housewife as she met with an attorney to discuss the mediation process — a move that signaled Ashley was finally ready to file for divorce.
The Maryland native confessed she was “dragging [her] feet” because she was “content” with her and Michael’s situation, but felt it was time to legally separate and start looking for a serious relationship.
“I am ready to fully proceed with my divorce,” she said in a confessional. “I am very open. I feel like I gotta test drive some cars, and I’m ready to get in as many drivers’ seats... in order to find the right person for me. Vroom, vroom baby. Vroom vroom.”
