Jasmine Ellis Cooper Drops Hints of Big News as She Goes Sober in Martha’s Vineyard

Jasmine surprised the other vacationers when she explained she was staying sober during the two-week vacay on Summer House: Martha's Vineyard.

Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard is back — with a new house, some new faces, and new drama. Jasmine Ellis Cooper arrived on the island without her husband, Silas, in tow in Episode 1, but even in his absence, the couple are sharing a big secret. Will the other house guests figure it out?

How to Watch

It all started when the ladies decided to take shots and pour wine within minutes of arriving for two weeks of vacay. As Summer Marie Thomas commented on Alex Tyree’s sobriety, it turned out Jasmine was also taking that route for the summer.

“Well I’m [also] on that mocktail — I’ve gone to the other side,” Jasmine said to Summer and Jordan Emanuel in the kitchen, later adding, “Alex converted me,” and “You’re looking at your newest mocktail mommy.”

How did Jasmine explain her sobriety on Summer House: Martha's Vineyard?

During a lobster dinner on the first night, Jasmine was asked by the others to explain why she wasn’t drinking alcohol. Jasmine revealed a party they all attended three months prior was the last time she had a drink.

“I don’t know. It was just a feeling, to be honest,” Jasmine explained. “And I just wanted to re-focus and get clear on some stuff. I’m just trying it out. It’s just a dry summer at the end of the day. Will I continue it? I don’t know.”

But not everyone was satisfied with that answer, as Bria Fleming muttered, “I thought she was pregnant” even as Jasmine shook her head no. The speculation on whether Jasmine was pregnant and covering it up also continued the next day as everyone piled into cars to head to a boat ride.

Why is Jasmine sober on Summer House: Martha's Vineyard?

The real reason for Jasmine’s love of mocktails was revealed on her Instagram in November 2023, as she shared she and Silas were expecting their first baby in February 2024, after tying the knot on June 26, 2022.

“My ‘mom-era’ is loading and my heart is so full right now,” she wrote in the caption.

She told PEOPLE magazine more about Silas' reaction to hearing the news.

“He got really emotional and shed a tear or two,” she said. “It was really exciting and very simple. I wish I would have documented it, but the way he reacted is cemented in my brain.”

Jasmine also showed off her baby bump with a curve-hugging amethyst turtleneck dress at BravoCon 2023, much to the delight of fans.

On March 1, 2024, Jasmine announced on Instagram she and her husband had welcomed a baby boy back on Feb. 22, named after his father, Silas “Si” Geplay Cooper Jr.
