Bozoma Saint John Reflects on Her Marriage to Peter Saint John: "Thankful for the Moments"
RHOBH's new Housewife, Bozoma Saint John, has been an open book about her relationship with her late husband, Peter, who passed away from cancer in 2013.
There's a new Housewife in the 90210 for Season 14 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Bozoma Saint John has officially joined the RHOBH cast and, as seen in the premiere episode, is an open book when it comes to her life before Bravo cameras started rolling on it. That includes Bozoma candidly discussing her marriage to her late husband, Peter Saint John.
Who was Bozoma Saint John married to?
Bozoma was married to Peter Saint John before his death in 2013. Bozoma shared more about her relationship with her late husband in the Season 14 premiere of RHOBH, in which she shed light on their marriage.
"So,I'm widowed," she told Dorit Kemsley during an emotional exchange after Dorit confessed her marital issues with Paul "PK" Kemsley to her. "But the reason why I empathize is that 10 years into our marriage, we separated. We never got divorced. But then he got sick and we reconciled. He had cancer and, you know, it's complicated."
When did Bozoma Saint John marry her husband Peter Saint John?
Bozoma previously revealed that she and her husband met "in the cafeteria of the building we both worked in in New York," she wrote on Instagram in 2019. "I was ordering breakfast, and, admittedly, taking my time. He was impatient and also trying to figure out a way to get my attention. He yelled out from the back of the line, 'You look like royalty, but you don't own this place. Hurry up and order!' Well...he succeeded in getting my attention and royally pissing me off. So it didn't help his cause when he tried to ask me out for consecutive days after that."
According to Elle, Bozoma and Peter married in June 2003 in New York City.
Bozoma Saint John discusses her husband's cancer battle
Bozoma and Peter were married for 10 years before he was diagnosed with cancer in May 2013. "Now, it's really important that I'm urgent because I understand what it really means to live every day fully," Bozoma later shared in an interview shared to OWN about her philosophy on life following her husband's diagnosis. "Now, I don't wait. You know, if we want to do something, we make sure that we do it... We don't want to wait for some magical time in the future to make the memories."
What kind of cancer did Peter Saint John have?
Accordiing to Essence, Peter was diagnosed with Burkitt’s lymphoma. Following his diagnosis, Peter went through "months" of chemotherapy but he was later told he "had a few weeks to live," according to Joy Online.
Peter passed away in December 2013. "We had so many conversations, which I'm so thankful for," Bozoma said during a Talks at Google in May 2023. "I am thankful. I'm thankful for the moments to talk about life...life becomes very clear when we know the end is coming."
Does Bozoma Saint John have any kids with Peter Saint John?
Bozoma is the mom to a teen daughter named Lael — whom she shared with Peter. Timed to the 2024 school year, Bozoma reflected on what it's been like to watch her daughter grow up as she enters 10th grade. "It’s been a journey… and time is precious," she wrote, adding, "Somebody Slow Time Down."
Before welcoming Lael, Bozoma has been open about her experience with preeclampsia and giving birth to a stillborn baby named Eve. She now refers to Lael as her rainbow baby. "I wished on a star for my rainbow baby...and God delivered her," Bozoma wrote in an Instagram post on Mother's Day this year. "So every time I say her name LA - EL, it's a biblical reminder in Hebrew that she belongs to God...and I smile, laugh and praise in full joy. Here's to the mothers of babies on Earth and in Heaven."
