Naomie Olindo Reveals Her Dad Suffered a Heart Attack in an Emotional Instagram Post

Naomie Olindo recently opened up about a scary episode involving her father, Joel Olindo, on Instagram.

The Southern Charm pal shared that her dad suffered a heart attack back in June. Naomie described the moments before she heard the news in a post on Instagram. "In June, my parents were out of town and I woke up in the middle of the night from a nightmare where my chest felt tight and painful. Told [boyfriend] Metul [Shah] I felt like I had a heart attack in my dream but didn’t think anything of it the next day. I usually talk to my parents every day, but for some reason didn’t that day," she wrote. "The next day, I was told my dad suffered a heart attack. Long story short and sparing you the details, he ended up okay and learning a valuable lesson without serious consequences."

Naomie went on to note the prevalence of heart attacks in the United States every year (the American Heart Association estimates about 720,000 new heart attacks occur annually, according to their 2018 statistics). "Here is why I am telling you this: for years before his heart attack actually happened, he had warning signs, bad blood work, and inconsistent eating habits," she said. "Friends, if you’re lucky enough to still have your parents around and see them have unhealthy habits, PUSH THEM TO CHANGE before it’s too late."

This experience has definitely been a wakeup call for Naomie's dad, whose health is in a much better place these days. "Since June, Joel has lost 40 pounds and his blood work has improved significantly," Naomie shared. "I am so proud of him and love this lil oyster-loving man so so much."

Joel has appeared on Southern Charm several times since Naomie joined the crew. Most recently, Southern Charm fans were invited to the opening of his new Mount Pleasant, South Carolina restaurant, NICO, in Season 5.
