Ubah Hassan Opens Up About Her “Excruciating" Health Issue: “I'm Losing Sleep"

Ubah Hassan confessed to experiencing a common problem amongst women, but doctors want to take a closer look.

The Real Housewives of New York City’s Ubah Hassan is getting candid about an issue many women can relate to.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of New York City on Bravo Tuesdays at 9/8c and stream next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

On RHONY Season 15, Episode 7, the UBAH HOT hot sauce founder and model opened up about debilitating pain, something that’s now giving her reason to go and seek the advice of a medical professional. While out on a shopping trip, Ubah told her friend, Stacey, that others suggested the pain could be a sign of getting older. But, according to Ubah, doctors wanted to find out for themselves.

“Like, I’m in bed,” Ubah said while drawing attention to her abdomen, further describing the pain as “excruciating.”

What are Ubah Hassan’s medical concerns?

As many can relate to, Ubah is struggling with “very painful” periods.

Speaking to RHONY producers, the Housewife detailed one instance in which she experienced incredible discomfort.

“Once, I was in a cab, I had to call a friend to stay on the phone with me before I [got] home, ’cause then I’m gonna pass out,” she explained. “Something’s wrong, but this painful period, it concerns me ’cause it has to do with old age.”

Ubah turned 41 in August, as seen in an Instagram post liked by her fellow Housewives.

Ubah expressed concerns about the pain because she wants the chance to conceive a child with her boyfriend, German investment banker Oliver Dachsel, also known as “Mr. Connecticut.”

“I’m not gonna lie, I’m losing a little sleep,” Ubah said in the recent episode. “And only because I want a baby with Oliver so bad.”

In September — months after filming — Ubah stopped at Bravo HQ and said the couple hadn’t started trying to have a baby yet, but she admitted to being anxious about the wait.

"You know, it's very scary because I have young friends — younger than me — and they're having a lot of fertility problems," she explained during her visit. "Every dinner conversation with girls is usually about, 'I've been trying for two years,' and I'm like, 'Oh, my God. You're like five years younger than me.'"

In the RHONY Season 15 premiere, she told Erin Lichy and Rebecca Minkoff she hoped to start trying for a baby in November or December 2024. She said adoption was also an option if they couldn’t conceive.

Ubah discusses possibly moving in with boyfriend Oliver

Ubah revealed her medical concerns to Stacey as they shopped for art at a Jonathan Adler home décor store in Manhattan, something to add a little color to Oliver’s Greenwich, Connecticut home. As previously reported by The Daily Dish, Ubah has her foot on the brakes when it comes to joining her boyfriend under the same roof.

“Oliver and I are talking about me moving to Greenwich,” she confessed in the recent preview. “The thing is, I want to keep my apartment in New York.”

Ubah said she was less inclined to stay in Connecticut “full-time,” especially considering Oliver spends so little time at the home. Plus, New York City is just part of Ubah’s identity.

She said as much to Sai De Silva in Season 15, Episode 3, en route to the Hamptons.

“I don’t want to rush anything,” Ubah told Sai. “I’m not a person who rush[es] things out, and I think that’s why it’s stressing me because Oliver already got a room for me to paint; big, huge canvas. And painting and everything, and I have a whole room for me to paint in Greenwich.”

More to come as The Real Housewives of New York City continues, with new episodes airing Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo and streaming the next day on Peacock.
