Monique Samuels' Son Chase Had Everyone Talking After the RHOP Season 5 Premiere
The Real Housewives of Potomac mom is letting us in on all her parenting secrets after this buzzy moment.
Everyone was in awe of Monique Samuels' baby boy Chase during The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 5 premiere.
During the episode, Monique and Chase paid a visit to Ashley Darby's apartment to catch up with the new mom and her 2-month-old son, Dean (clip above). But before Ashley and Monique could do some major mom bonding, Chase, who is only 9 months old at this point, had to use the potty all by himself. "I started when he was 4 1/2 months," Monique told Ashley of potty training Chase. "Caught right on."
Of course, Ashley and RHOP fans alike were so impressed that Chase already knows how to use the bathroom before his first birthday. Though when to start potty training varies based on a child's physical, developmental, and behavioral milestones, not age, according to the Mayo Clinic, many kids don't show signs of being ready for potty training until they're 18 to 24 months old, maybe not even until the age of 3, in some cases.
Monique explained on Twitter as the episode aired that Chase is not yet fully potty trained. "It’s an introduction," she tweeted. "Helps to fully potty train faster."
Monique will soon be "giving you all the secrets" in her upcoming book Potty Training Mommy and Daddy: A Guide For Introducing Infant Potty Training As Early As 6 Months Old.
"Based on her own experiences potty training three children, Monique teaches parents how to avoid the frustrations of going from diaper dependent to diaper free!" the book's summary reads. "The purpose of this book is to provide 10 simple steps in order to INTRODUCE the potty at an earlier age. We're not looking for perfection as much as familiarity. When your child realizes he or she does not have to sit in mess, you'll be surprised at how quickly they catch on!"
