Luis D. Ortiz Reflects on the Pain He Felt Before Returning to NYC
The MDLNY agent faced some challenges in his time away from New York traveling the globe.
During this week's episode of Million Dollar Listing New York, Luis D. Ortiz reflected on the emotional challenges he felt when he moved away from NYC to travel and stepped away from real estate. "I've been through a lot these past two years and I'm a bit lost," he said in Thursday's episode (clip above).
In that time, he kept in touch with longtime friend, Fredrik Eklund, who was there to support him and convinced him to return to the Big Apple.
Luis opened up about some emotional turmoil he felt during his travels to Bali and his battle with depression. "When I left New York, I thought I was going to, I thought everything was going to be flying balloons and flying elephants," he said during the episode. "I thought I was going to be happily ever after, but it was the opposite."
Some of Luis' struggles were included in a previous season of MDLNY when the agents visited him in Paris.
On Thursday's episode, he then relayed to Fredrik how he fell in love "for the very first first time in my life" with a woman during that time and after their breakup, it felt like "she abandoned me."
"I became very much in love with this woman, so when we broke up it broke my heart a lot because not only did I lose the person I was in love with, I also lost my best friend," he later added.
"If I didn't come back here [to NYC], I wouldn't be here. So that's why I'm here," he noted in the emotional episode.
Luis then decided to step back into the real estate game. "I have to admit that I missed this city a lot. Now it's time to get back to work," he said.
