While Meredith Marks and Seth Marks have had their fair share of marriage issues, their union is stronger than ever on Season 5 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. But does their new-ish legal arrangement — more specifically, their postnuptial agreement — have something to do with that?

During Season 5, Episode 4 of RHOSLC (which aired Oct. 9) Meredith discussed her and Seth's postnup. The topic came up after the women started discussing Bronwyn Newport and her husband Todd Bradley's lack of a prenup. While listening to the women argue, Meredith chimed in during a confessional, noting how money is such a personal topic for couples and everyone's situation is different.

"Look, to me this is all very personal information," she said. "Like, Seth and I chose to get a post-nup when things were a little dicey."

The couple, more specifically, wrote up their postnuptial arrangement 15 years into their marriage. They previously spoke about their decision while recording their podcast during RHOSLC Season 4, Episode 10.

Why did Meredith Marks and Seth get a postnup?

As Meredith shared on RHOSLC Season 4, "I was moving with three children from Chicago to Park City, Utah, where if you were to go get a divorce, it is not favorable for women in Utah. I was worried that I would love my children and be stuck somewhere that I didn't know and that he would leave me."

She clarified of the postnuptial agreement, "[There was] nothing financial in it, it was strictly about custody of our children."

After hearing Meredith share the story, Seth was shocked at her admission that she thought they might get divorced.

"You thought I was going to leave you?" he asked before issuing an apology to his wife. "I wasn't there from an emotional support standpoint, and I regret that and I apologize for that."

Who is Seth Marks?

RHOSLC fans met Seth during Season 1. He and Meredith got married in 1996 at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago (where Meredith is from), and they had their rehearsal dinner at the Four Seasons.

Over the years, Seth has held a number of impressive professional roles, and according to his LinkedIn, he's currently the Senior Vice President of Merchandising & Extreme Value Sourcing at Big Lots. Before that, he was Chief Merchandising Officer at Channel Control Merchants, LLC, where he utilized skills in finance, operations, marketing, and supply chain management.
