Scheana Shay Shares Her Divorce Advice For Brittany Cartwright & Jax Taylor: "Just Try To..."
Vanderpump Rules' Scheana Shay has some very important advice for The Valley's Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor.
Scheana Shay is lending her support and offering some advice for her friends and The Valley cast members, Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor, amid their ongoing divorce.
Fans may recall that the Vanderpump Rules cast member has been in their shoes before, as she split from her first husband, Mike Shay, in 2017.
But, as Scheana noted in a recent interview with Page Six, Jax and Brittany are in a very different position than she was during her divorce — especially since they have their 3-year-old son, Cruz Cauchi, in the mix.
Still, she said that she has so much respect for Brittany as she works through this major event in her life. "My best advice today would be to just try to co-parent the best you can so that Cruz has the most peace possible in his life," Scheana said. "Never to argue in front of your kid. And I'm just so thankful that Brittany is putting herself and her child first, because this needed to happen."
Scheana had previously expressed her support for Brittany, telling E! News in March that her separation from Jax was "for the best."
"I think she deserves better, and I think she deserves a partner who will treat her with respect," she said at the time.
Did Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright sign a prenuptial agreement?
Brittany gave more insight into her divorce, which she filed for in August, during a September 20 episode of their podcast, When Reality Hits. During the episode, she revealed that she did not sign a prenuptial agreement with Jax because "I just always thought I was going to be with Jax for the rest of my life."
"Jax and I have always kept our finances separate," she explained during the podcast. "We never had a joint bank account or anything like that."
They do, however, have their house in the Valley, which they purchased as a couple. "We did buy the house together," she admitted. "We both put the same amount of money in, stuff like that. We bought a car together once. Stuff like that. But we have always had separate bank accounts. So I'm never using his money. He's never using my money. It was just never like that."
Why are Brittany and Jax getting a divorce?
Brittany explained on her and Jax's joint podcast that she tried to make their relationship work, especially for the sake of their young son. "I think everyone can tell from all the years that you've seen me with him that I was madly in love with him and I tried everything I could possibly do in this relationship," she said. "I've given so much. I've been through so much. I've put up with so much, stuck through so much. I just thought I would be able to do it for life. Obviously, things have changed."
In a September 19 interview with People, Brittany reiterated that she did everything she could. "I wanted to make sure I did every single thing I could possibly do to give it a chance and try for my family, for my son, for my future," she concluded. "But I couldn't do it anymore. I had to put myself first."
