Kate Chastain Just “Figured Out” Something Major as a New Mom (VIDEO)
With 10 weeks of motherhood under her belt, the Below Deck alum discovered a parenting hack.
Kate Chastain has been a mom for 10 weeks now, and sleep has been hard to come by. However, the Below Deck alum just found a way to ensure that at least one member of her household is getting some rest. Here’s a hint: It involves no beds and no bassinets — but a lot of bouncing and swaying.
Kate Chastain “figured out” a major parenting hack
In a July 11 Instagram post, Kate shared a video scored by Nina Simone’s “My Baby Just Cares for Me.” The song choice was apt, considering how it plays off baby Sullivan Cay’s sleep preferences.
In Kate’s video, she’s seen doing laps from her dining room to her living room with Sullivan in her arms. As Kate walks, she bounces and sways her newborn babe — and shows off an impressive array of outfits.
The swaying montage shows the former chief stew wearing breezy linen pants, all-black workout gear, and a beautifully patterned robe. Below Deck Mediterranean alum Jessica More hopped into the comments, writing, “He’s such a cutie and [you’re] still hot with no sleep.”
In her caption, Kate revealed her new discovery. “[Ten] weeks later I think I’ve figured out how to get him to sleep,” she wrote. Sullivan’s fondness for snuggling up in his mama’s arms has been well documented.
Earlier this month, she shared that she’d tried four baby carriers, but lo and behold, Sullivan “hates them all.” The Florida native showed off her solution, posting a pic of the baby curled up against her chest while she was “dreaming of having a martini.”
Since Kate’s doing an awful lot of baby rocking these days, she’s found something to help her get through it. The former yachtie recently shared a screenshot of Andy Cohen’s Daddy Diaries. “So sad I’m at the end of [Andy’s] audiobook,” she wrote. “It’s kept me entertained through days of baby rocking.”
Kate’s Too-Cute Pictures of Sullivan Cay
Kate doesn’t just share photos at naptime. In a recent Instagram Story, she shared a peek at her newborn while he was wide awake, chilling in his palm-print romper. “Big boy,” she proudly wrote.
In addition to summery prints, Sullivan’s wardrobe is flecked with Gucci logos. In a July 4 Instagram Story, Kate shared a video of her baby boy wearing fluffy sky-blue socks and a onesie from the designer brand. To top it all off, a teeny Gucci hat was perched on his head.
As Kate filmed, she commented on the little look. “You sure do have a flashy outfit on today,” she said to her son. “What do you think about it?” Sullivan flashed a delighted little grin and let out a coo.
