Kate Chastain Reveals if She Wants to Have More Kids
The Below Deck alum shared her thoughts on having a second baby after welcoming her son, Sullivan, in May.
Kate Chastain is taking to motherhood like a, well, yacht takes to water. The former Below Deck chief stew welcomed her first child, an adorable boy named Sullivan Cay, on May 5. Since then, the Florida native has shared frequent updates about life as a new mama — and Sullivan’s baby-chic ensembles (more on that later).
Now that Kate has a couple of months of motherhood under her belt, does she think she wants to have more babies in the future? In a recent interview, the former boating pro shared her thoughts.
Does Kate Chastain want more kids?
When chatting with E! News, Kate had this to say about having another baby: “I think I’m done. I think one will be enough for me, but check back in another year, because I think, with time, you forget stuff.”
She added: “I’m texting all my friends and siblings who have multiple kids, like, ‘I can’t believe you did this more than once,’ but also that’s what people said to me about Below Deck seasons and I kept going back for that as well. You never know.”

Kate also weighed in on how motherhood compares to her former role aboard Valor. “I thought after being a chief stew on yachts, I was like, ‘Oh, being a mom, how hard could it be?’ It is so much harder than being a chief stew on yachts. It really is, but I love it.”
While charter guests didn’t typically demand diaper changes, baby Sullivan certainly does. “I guess what really surprises me is it’s not just feeding and diapers,” Kate told E! about mom life. “Also the number of diapers surprised me. At my baby shower I asked my cousin, ‘So, how many diapers a day, like three? Five?’ She’s like, ‘Oh no, no, no, no, no.’”

Motherhood isn’t all changing diapers. In her recent Instagram posts, Kate has shared glimpses into her day-to-day life with Sullivan. Their activities have included plenty of naps (for Sullivan) and some dreaming about martinis (for Kate). And of course, cuddles are a staple of their routine.
Kate has also dressed her baby up in the chicest little outfits, including a Gucci look that came with its own designer bib.
As Kate filmed Sullivan’s outfit for an Instagram Story, she provided some commentary on his swaggy look. “You sure do have a flashy outfit on today,” she told her son.
We’re just going to say it: Sullivan looks good in designer duds, and motherhood looks good on Kate!
