Alex McCord 's Son Johan Is a High School Graduate! Read Her Reaction
“From preschool in Brooklyn all the way to Australia,” The Real Housewives of New York City alum shared about her son's life today.
Alex McCord's son, Johan, just checked off a major milestone. The Real Housewives of New York City alum took to Instagram to share the news on September 21, posting a sweet post to her newly minted high-school graduate. In her post, the PhD reflected on what a "wild ride" it's been, and she shared some wildly sweet photos to go along with it.
After leaving the Brooklyn brownstone where RHONY viewers first got to know her, Alex moved to Australia in 2014. In 2017, Alex caught up with The Daily Dish, spilling the tea on her move. "Life is really good," she said, while visiting New York with her family. "Moving to Australia is obviously very, very different from New York City, but it was a great move and a healthy move."
She added: "We are now about three minutes away in a couple of different directions from all of Simon's family," she said. "That's something we never had in New York, because my family is all from Dallas, and Simon's family was obviously in Australia. We haven't had that before, and it's a learning experience. Our kids have cousins the same age, we have in-laws the same age, and you know how you can choose your friends, and you can't choose your family? This is a huge learning curve to spend time together and enjoy each other but also to learn how to navigate those relationships."
Meanwhile, Alex has always had a close relationship with her kiddos. And her latest post proves that she's forever the proud mom.

In her September 21 share, Alex wrote: "And just like that…Johan is a high school graduate! From preschool in Brooklyn all the way to Australia, it’s been a wild ride and we can’t wait to see what’s next."
The post included a photo of her with her son, as well as photos from his graduation ceremony and a celebratory family dinner.
There have been other changes in Alex's family, as they recently welcomed a new pet. In a July 30 Instagram post, the mother of two made a big announcement. “We’ve adopted a small panther,” she wrote. “He is 6 years old and came to live with us a month ago. His name is Magic, and he is settling in nicely — even deigning to pose with me in a matching sweater.”
Spoiler alert: Magic isn’t really a panther. But as Alex’s photos proved, the black cat does have a jungle-animal look to him. The furry friend has glowing green eyes, a shiny jet-black coat, and rather large paws. Unlike a panther, however, Magic seems to enjoy cuddling with humans.
