See what the RHONY alum has been up to ahead of her debut on The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip.
It's been 15 years since Bravo fans were first introduced to Alex McCord on The Real Housewives of New York City, and over a decade since she ultimately departed the show. But thankfully, she's making her reality TV return on The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip Season 4.
Set to appear on the new iteration of The Ex-Wives Club, her fellow cast members include The Real Housewives of New Jersey's Caroline Manzo, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Camille Grammer Meyer, The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Phaedra Parks and Eva Marcille, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Brandi Glanville, and The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Vicki Gunvalson and Gretchen Rossi.
The exciting show news was announced on January 9, along with the fact that the group will be traveling to Marrakech, Morocco. There's no premiere date quite yet, but that just means you have plenty of time to find out everything Alex has been up to since she was last on our screens. What has Alex been up to since RHONY?
Alex, her husband, Simon van Kempen, and their two sons, Francois and Johan, moved from Brooklyn to Australia at the end of 2014. As she told The Daily Dish at the time, "After 18 years in New York for Alex, and 28 years outside Australia for Simon, we've made the decision to move to Australia to be with family. Over the last few years, all of Simon's family have reconvened from as far as Europe to all live within 20 minutes of each other on a collection of beautiful beaches on the north coast of New South Wales. We are the last of the family to move back, and it's time."
"Our children have never had the opportunity to live within walking distance of grandparents and cousins, and with our two boys aged 8 and 10 it's the perfect time for the extended family to enjoy each other," she said of her sons.
How old are Alex and Simon's kids?
Speaking of Francois and Johan, it's safe to say they've definitely grown up since appearing on RHONY! Francois celebrated his 19th birthday last October, and Johan turned 17 the following month.
Alex has documented several of the milestones they've achieved over the years, including Francois joining the New South Wales Regional Youth Task Force.
What does Alex do for work?
Alex is currently in the process of adding "Dr." to her name. She announced last August that she had started her doctoral program just two years after receiving her Master's Degree in Psychology, writing on Instagram, "I'm gonna be a PhD!!" Just successfully defended my research proposal and my doctoral candidature is confirmed!!"
The RHONY alum has also authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles; the latest of which she shared in December. "Another published peer-reviewed journal article!" Alex captioned a selfie of her holding the article. "This research examines illicit uses of digital currencies #criminology #cryptocurrency."
What's more, Alex was recognized with a national award in Australia in 2020. As she wrote on Instagram, "Thrilled that my research on which my first peer-reviewed journal article was based has also won a national award - Elsie Harwood Award by Australian Psychological Society for excellence in aging research for an Honours or Graduate thesis."
