Dolores Catania Reveals Why Her Married Parents Chose to Live Separately
"Nontraditional relationships can work," The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member said.
Dolores Catania is the first to admit her current living situation is a bit unique, and on The Real Housewives of New Jersey's February 24 episode, she opened up about how her mother influenced her feelings on making relationships work when a "nontraditional" living arrangement is involved.
"My mom always taught me to be self-sufficient. Growing up one of five kids, you kind of fended for yourself. I learned all that from my mom and that nontraditional relationships can work," she explained. "When my father became the chief of police in 1998, he moved to Paterson. My mom lived in Totowa and wanted to stay there. My parents still stayed married, they do everything a traditional married couple does, they just don't live together."
"You know what?" she added, "That works for them."
On the show's February 17 episode, Dolores discussed her own living situation, explaining that she was living with her ex-husband, Frank Catania, while her son was temporarily residing with her boyfriend, David Principe. "I built the house with my boyfriend, David. Didn't move in," she said. "I live at my house with my ex-husband and then my son, Frankie, comes home from school during the pandemic and decides to study for his GMAT test to get into graduate school for business. Now my son lives in my boyfriend's house studying."
After briefly moving into an NYC apartment last year, Dolores is currently living alone while her house is being renovated. “I’m by myself at the infamous shore house right now,” she shared on the February 20 episode of The Daily Dish podcast. "The house up north is being renovated. Stay tuned for that.”
