For anyone who’s ever watched The Real Housewives of Atlanta, it comes as no surprise that mom of six Kim Zolciak-Bierman has admitted that she’s got some hoarding tendencies. (Who doesn’t?!) On a recent “House of Kim” podcast episode, Kim told her fans, “I’m such a hoarder, I have more makeup than I know what to do with and I mean I have lingerie, I love clothes, I love shoes, I’m like 100-percent girl.”
How do she and her husband Kroy find balance among all that stuff? For them, feng shui is the answer. According to the couple, they recently began working with certified feng shui professional Ashley Cantley, who they have come to love and adore — and the small home changes they’ve made have had a major impact on their lives. For one, they’re planning a big yard sale in Georgia at the end of the month to get rid of the excess of things.
“Feng shui is the study or art or the philosophy of energy,” explained Kroy. “Your energy and your surroundings’ energy and how you interact in that. It’s about harmonizing yourself so that the energy within you is in harmony with your surroundings — your home, your office, your cubicle. All those different [areas] have energy flowing throughout them, energy flows throughout your home and through you and you want the energy to flow positively.”
“We had areas of blockage, areas that need to be cleaned out, and [Ashley] gives you pictures of each space … but it’s literally life changing, the energy you can almost feel it,” said Kim.
Added Kroy, “I would say that we’ve done 90 percent of the corrections she suggested and of that 90 percent, 100 percent we have felt and it’s been really amazing, if you follow her process you can really feel kind of a shift and a difference in the space that she’s helped you correct.”
On her blog, Cantley outlined three specific tips from her work with the Biermans, which include adding a water feature to the front of your home; using fragrances throughout the home to manifest your goals (orange calls in wealth, lemon seeks babies and love, etc.); and hanging photos throughout the home that make you happy.
Another tip from Kim? If you’re going through a breakup, get you a new mattress. “If you’ve had any kind of relations on that mattress, it’s time to get a new one to bring in new energy, to sleep better and to feel better.”
Oh, and one more piece of advice: Always keep the toilet lid and the bathroom door closed. “It literally translates to putting energy down the drain,” explained Kroy.
Sounds like all the small changes are having a big impact for the couple down in Georgia, and we can't wait to learn more!
