Vicki Gunvalson Unveils Her Newly Renovated Vacation Home: "Love the Way It Turned Out"
The RHOC alum shared the results almost a year after she started updating the Puerto Vallarta property.
After much anticipation, Vicki Gunvalson has finally unveiled her newly renovated vacation home. And, we have to say, the results were pretty stunning.
The Real Housewives of Orange County alum lifted the curtain last week after she landed in Mexico to put the finishing touches on her “oasis.”
“Back in [Puerto Vallarta] to put my condo back together,” she captioned the September 27 Instagram post. “[M]y home away from home.”
Vicki Gunvalson transforms her Puerto Vallarta condo
The video focused on the unit’s living room, dining space, and open-concept kitchen area, which were updated with sleek fixtures, contemporary furniture, and a light, neutral color scheme.
As seen in the Instagram Reel, Vicki had replaced her brown couch with an off-white sectional that perfectly complemented the light gray area rug and the gold-toned accents throughout. Vicki also swapped her black coffee table for a round, gray marble-top piece that matched her dramatic dining table.
The OC mom, who has been visiting Puerto Vallarta for the past 30-plus years, completed the eating area with light gray upholstered chairs, wicker chargers, and a floral centerpiece, as well as a large framed mirror and a gold-toned box chandelier.
The bar and kitchen area were also upgraded with marble countertops; chrome appliances; white cabinets; and, of course, gold-toned fixtures — giving the condo a much lighter and more modern feel.
Vicki explains her overall vision for her "oasis"
Vicki purchased the Puerto Vallarta home in early 2020 and began updating it nearly a year ago. She spoke about her vision in early August when the renovations were still underway.
“Taking you all inside my precious Puerto Vallarta oasis!” she said in the August 29 Reel. “They’re coming along great. Can’t wait to share more with you all as it comes together.”
She continued: “I want this place to be like a home and not like a Mexican retreat. I want to keep the Mexican flair but I want to step it up a little bit… I have no desire to move. There’s three complexes here. It’s just safe. I’m happy and [the condo] can accommodate a lot of people… I’m very focused on comfort and making it happy.”
Vicki considers opening a bar in Mexico: "I've wanted to do this..."
In addition to the renovated condo, Vicki owns other investment properties in Puerto Vallarta and may soon open a bar there. She spoke about the potential business venture during the September 30 episode of My Friend, My Soulmate, My Podcast, explaining why she was a little hesitant to take the leap.
“Everybody knows I’m very risk-averse, meaning I don’t like risk,” Vicki told her co-host, Christian Gray Snow. “Through talking to everybody, they’re like, ‘[The bar] is going to be a big hit,’ but we know four months are called ‘low season,’ where there’s lots of humidity, lots of rain here; so I don’t know if I should.”
Vicki said her boyfriend, businessman Michael Smith, has done a lot of research and has even scouted out a few bar locations; however, she can’t help but think of the worst-case scenarios.
“What if nobody shows up?” she asked. “For 10 years I’ve wanted to do this… but then I start thinking, ‘Do I want to stay in the safe lane or do I want to go in the express lane and do something different?’”
