Vicki Gunvalson Shares a Renovation Update on Her "Puerto Vallarta Oasis" (VIDEO)
The RHOC alum showed off some of the fabulous updates to her main vacation condo: "Can’t wait to share more."
Vicki Gunvalson is breathing new life into her home away from home.
On Saturday, August 31, The Real Housewives of Orange County alum provided a thorough tour of her incredible Puerto Vallarta vacation home. Vicki, who purchased the condo in the spring of 2020, began updating the property late last year, starting with a few decor changes to her living room and outdoor space. But once 2024 rolled around, Vicki embarked on a much more ambitious project: a full-on gut renovation.
Hours after she and her boyfriend, Michael Smith, landed in Mexico, Vicki took to Instagram to show off the ongoing home updates.
“Taking you all inside my precious Puerto Vallarta oasis!” she said in the video. “They’re coming along great. Can’t wait to share more with you all as it comes together.”
Vicki Gunvalson shows off her vacation home updates: "A labor of love"
Vicki began in the living room/entryway, saying she intended to cover the tile floors with a light gray carpet and would replace her current brown sectional with a cream-colored couch.
“Everything has been gutted. It’s been a labor of love,” she said as she moved toward the dining area. “I’m so excited with how it turned out.”
Vicki then highlighted a large rectangle mirror she planned to hang on her dining room wall. The OC mom said she would spend a part of the weekend painting the mirror gold, as she wanted it to compliment the stunning chandelier above her dining table.
Fans then got a glimpse at the condo’s bar area, which featured white cabinetry with opaque windows, stone countertops, a wine cooler, and a mini-fridge. Vicki said the space would be fully completed within a few days.
Vicki then made her way to the kitchen, where she had replaced the black two-tiered countertops with light Taj Mahal Quartzite slabs, which went perfectly with the gold-toned fixtures. She then showcased her new full-size stove and chrome refrigerator, which was flanked by a pantry and an unfinished coffee bar.
Vicki shares her overall "goal" for her Puerto Vallarta condo
“My goal for this home is to have my four grandkids here and my daughter and my son-in-law and my son and hopefully we can spend Thanksgiving or New Year’s or the holidays here. I’ve got lots of room.”
Vicki then provided a peek at one of the condo’s four updated bathrooms, which featured a gold-toned faucet, light gray cabinets, and the same stone countertops as the kitchen. The OC mom confirmed every other bathroom had the same “monochrome” aesthetic.
“I want this place to be like a home and not like a Mexican retreat. I want to keep the Mexican flair but I want to step it up a little bit… I have no desire to move. There’s three complexes here. It’s just safe. I’m happy and [the condo] can accommodate a lot of people… I’m very focused on comfort and making it happy.”
Vicki confirms she purchased a third property in Mexico
She then took fans inside all four bedrooms as well as the secondary living space. The latter was filled with older furniture and home decor pieces that she planned to put in her third — yes, third — Puerto Vallarta condo. Vicki spoke about her newest pad in the July 29 episode of her podcast series, saying it was a two-bedroom, two-bath property on the 22nd floor.
“The reason I bought this was an investment,” she said about the third vacation home. “Ideally, I want to own the third place for at least two years. I’ll rent it out… I’m taking a lot of my decorations from my current house over to that house.”
Vicki said the new condo should be ready sometime in October.
