Shane Simpson Makes a Confession About Emily to Producers: “She Takes It a Little Too Far..."

While Shane is happy about the RHOC cast member's healthy lifestyle, he has a slight concern.

While Emily Simpson has remained dedicated to her health journey, her husband is concerned that she's been hitting the free weights a little too hard.

How to Watch

During Season 18, Episode 3 of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Shane Simpson, Emily, and their three kids spent some time around the dinner table. When the conversation turned to healthy habits, the parents excused themselves to chat alone upstairs.

"I think Emily's pathway to being healthy is terrific. I'm very proud of her, I'm very happy for her," Shane told producers in a confessional. "But I do think that she takes it a little too far, to the point where she disappoints herself when she can't make it to the gym one day."

According to Emily, both she and her husband's health habits swing too far in one direction. Emily feels bad when she misses a single workout, while Shane carries around a giant cup of soda all day.

"My kids see me go to the gym every day, so I think the kids seeing that I have an active lifestyle is a good thing. It counterbalances Shane walking around with his Big Gulps all the time," she said.

In the same conversation, Emily told Shane that she'd had dinner with her stepdaughter, his daughter, Chanel. During the meal, the teen brought up her dad's approach to wellness.

"So, I had dinner with Chanel the other night, and she was saying that you lectured her about eating out so much," Emily shared.

While Shane said he didn't "lecture" his daughter, he did tell her that it's best for people to eat at home.

"She thought you were being hypocritical, because she said 'Daddy eats In-N-Out all the time and always has Diet Coke and doesn't work out,'" added Emily. "I'm going to the gym too much and being too obsessive, and you're over here not doing anything. So maybe we could meet in the middle and work on being healthy together."

However, Shane did have a counterpoint to Emily's argument.

"I don't have time to be healthy. In fact, when she's at the gym, I'm the one at home handling all the kids," he explained. "So, I think she needs to kind of have a better balance in her health and home life."

Still, Emily has been concerned for her husband's wellbeing — especially after he complained about a pain in his chest.

"I'm just concerned, because there's so many men at your age that are out on the golf course and then they just die of a heart attack," she said.

His response? "Yeah, but I don't golf."
