Gina and Emily Reveal Where They Stand After That Pickleball Fight: “It’s Emotional”
The Real Housewives of Orange County castmates shed new light on their relationship these days.
When you have a solid friendship, you can make it through anything — even a screaming match that takes place at the pickleball court of the house you're trying to sell. Right, Gina Kirschenheiter and Emily Simpson?
During Season 18, Episode 7 of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Gina and Emily's friendship was put to the test when they got into an argument during a game of pickleball. While they seemed to make up by episode's end, there's still much to discuss about the argument, which began over Gina and Emily's respective loyalties to Heather Dubrow and Tamra Judge.
"Sometimes you get a little jealous or a little bit, like, insecure. Friends are going to fight!" Gina told BravoTV.com in an exclusive sit-down (you can watch the clip above!). "But real friends, when you fight, it brings you closer."
Emily also gave her take on the situation.
"I think Gina and I are so close; I equate Gina with a sister, not just a friend," she said. "There's never any long-term toxicity in our relationship. We're so important to one another that we both have the mentality that we always want to move forward and we always want to make it right."
"I just saw Gina a couple days ago," she continued. "I went over to her house and we sat on her couch and we ate gummy bears. [ ... ] We have such a solid foundation and such a solid ground as a friendship that even when we're mad and we're yelling at each other it's emotional. We're mad and we're yelling but we're crying at the same time. I think it's easy for us to come back around."
Gina agreed, saying Emily is like her sister and their relationship will never shift. "Emily is one of my best friends in the entire world. I put her in another bucket," she added. "We're sisters, we're family, we're ride or dies."
Gina Kirschenheiter Has a New Perspective on Her Argument with Emily Simpson
At the beginning of the clip, Gina noted that the fight made more sense to her after she looked at it from Emily's perspective.
"I didn't even actually think about it from Emily's perspective, that when Heather came on [the show] that did kind of bother Emily. I don't think I ever really realized that, thought about that, or was cued up to that until she started to bond with Tamra and then I was like 'Wait a minute. I don't like this,'" she noted.
Inside Emily Simpson and Gina Kirschenheiter's drama on RHOC
During Season 15, Episode 7, a fun pickleball game between the besties turned into an on-court fight. The trouble started when they began discussing their roles in their friend group — and where their loyalties currently lie.
"I don't want us to have any problems ever, but last night you were clearly upset with me," Gina told Emily, who answered with a simple "yeah." The crux of the argument was that Emily didn't like how Gina acts around Heather. ("You let her manipulate you. You worry about what she thinks. You're so far up her ass," she explained.)
Gina, meanwhile, didn't like how Emily acts like "the grand bitch" and thought she needed to work on her aggression.
"I've been aggressive since the day you met me. I'm 48 years old. What the f-ck do you want me to do?" answered Emily.
Eventually, Gina began to walk away, proclaiming that "everybody f-cking hates" her anyway.
"You're mad at me, she's mad at me, she's mad at me, Travis is mad at me, everybody's f-cking mad at me," she said. The sprinklers were also on, which didn't help her point.
When she couldn't get into the house, she turned around and the women talked things out a little.
"I just feel like I can't even approach you," said Gina. "And I don't want to feel like I'm tiptoeing around you or walking on eggshells around you. Because I just can't. I need you in my life right now."
