Candiace Reveals an Update on Her and Chris’ Marriage After RHUGT Troubles

Candiace Dillard Bassett’s Thailand vacation for The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip Season 3 didn’t exactly go off without a hitch. Why? As The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member previously revealed, she and her husband, Chris Bassett, had gotten into “the biggest fight of [their] marriage” just before she left.
Thankfully, the couple is in a much better place today. During Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on April 16, Candiace was asked where she and Chris “stand” after the pre-departure fight, and she responded, “We’re fine! Married people fight and you figure it out. We’re fine.”
Candiace added that the fight was mostly “bad” because of the timing of her trip. “I left right after… We couldn’t argue it out,” she said.
As a result, her lingering emotions affected the beginning of her time in Thailand with her RHUGT castmates, RHOP’s Gizelle Bryant, The Real Housewives of Miami’s Alexia Nepola and Marysol Patton, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s Heather Gay and Whitney Rose, The Real Housewives of New York City’s Leah McSweeney, and The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Porsha Williams. Reflecting on those early days, she told Page Six, “I was still dealing with a lot of feelings about Chris and I not speaking and having literally gotten into a huge argument five minutes before going to get in my car and go to the airport and not being able to resolve it.”
That combined with “things happening in my family” might have sent someone else packing, but Candiace stuck it out. And in the process, she gained an unexpected friend: Porsha.
“I really enjoy Porsha,” Candiace told ET. “I think that before we had our issues in the press… I always said, if I met Porsha, I think I would like her. She seems like my kind of girl. Like, a girlie girl, like a fun girl.”
And despite their past drama, which admittedly “soured things” for a while, Candiace said she and the RHOA alum “got to a decent place in Thailand.”
“I got to know her. Vibes always tell the truth. You can always vibe off of someone in person than you can through the internet, so being around her and her energy, I like [Porsha],” Candiace explained. “I went to her wedding! I mean, she invited me to her wedding. That sort of says it all, and I’m happy that we were able to figure it out.”
