Mercedes "MJ" Javid Reveals She Was Hospitalized During Her Pregnancy Journey
The Shahs of Sunset mom-to-be had surgery in December after a "high risk" condition was discovered.
Back in December, Mercedes "MJ" Javid, who is expecting her first child with husband Tommy Feight, revealed she was put on bed rest. Now, the Shahs of Sunset mom-to-be is opening up more about the events that led to her being put on bed rest.
In a video posted this week from December while she was in the hospital, she noted it was "a pretty uneventful pregnancy until this week." She elaborated more on her condition on Instagram, confirming that her doctors "performed this little surgery called a cervical cerclage. You get an epidural, and a stitch, which considered a rescue... The procedure is painless and under an hour."
A cervical cerclage is "also known as a cervical stitch ... a treatment for cervical incompetence or insufficiency, when the cervix starts to shorten and open too early during a pregnancy causing either a late miscarriage or preterm birth."
MJ, who is expected to welcome the baby around Mother's Day, then went into more detail about the medical scare.
"First and foremost, thank you so much for all the messages of love and support along the way. Here’s a little video of me feeling very scared and nervous about something unexpected that my exceptionally awesome doctors found during a check up after [Christmas] where my cervix suddenly measured too short, around 1.3 centimeters, which is high risk for [miscarriage]," she wrote. "I got an epidural, an overnight stay at the hospital for a surgery called cervical cerclage, which is considered a rescue. How I’ve gotten through this emotionally is by the strong, peaceful and beautiful spirit of my father, my maternal strength, and the unrelenting support of my husband. There is so much more to come and although bed rest has not been the ideal way to spend this beautiful time, I am learning a lot, and finding a blessing in EVERYTHING. #babyjourney #pregnancyjourney."
