Patricia Altschul Offers Update on Former Butler, Michael Kelcourse, Amid Health Issues
Southern Charm's Patricia Altschul shared insight into how Michael is doing following news that he suffered from another stroke recently.
Patricia Altschul is sharing yet another update on her former butler, Michael Kelcourse, after he recently suffered another stroke.
The Southern Charm matriarch first shared the news on his ongoing health issues earlier this week and took to her Instagram on Wednesday, October 9, where she thanked her followers for their thoughts and kindness for Michael following his recent stroke.
"Thank you for all of your kind messages about Michael and to everyone who has sent him birthday cards," she wrote in the caption of the post about his ongoing health issues. "I know he will appreciate them. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who is in Florida right now, especially Michael."
She also posted a vintage clip from Southern Charm highlighting her special friendship with Michael. In the throwback video, Michael and Patricia can be seen talking about how they came to work together. Their banter is natural and their laughter is contagious. You can tell, just by watching the video, how much they care for one another.
Patricia Altschul reveals Michael Kelcourse suffered another stroke
Just two days earlier, Patricia took to Instagram, where she went into detail about the latest concerning Michael's health issues following his most recent stroke. "I am very sad to share that Michael has had another stroke," she wrote in the caption of the post.
"I am told that while he cannot read messages on his phone or Instagram, he can receive cards," she continued, giving her Instagram followers Michael's address so they can send them their well wishes. "His birthday is October 13 and it would be so nice if his fans sent him a card."
"We are sure he would love to receive your birthday and well wishes," she concluded. "I know he means so much to so many of you."
Is Patricia Altschul still friends with Michael Kelcourse?
After Michael suffered a spinal cord stroke in 2021, he retired from working at Patricia's Charleston estate. Although he moved to Florida following his injury, he and Patricia still talk often. "We talk all the time and keep in touch," Patricia explained in Southern Charm Season 9, Episode 6. "I miss him every day. He really is like a member of the family."
At the time of his retirement, Michael had been working for Patricia for 18 years. This friendship has allowed for Michael to keep going through his hard times, as he recalled during a face time session in the episode. "I couldn't have done it without you folks," Michael told Patricia and Whitney during the episode.
"You gave me such help and were just such an inspiration...I love all you guys more than you'll ever know — and the dogs!" he concluded in the episode.
