Patricia Altschul Mourns the Death of Her Dog, Chauncey: "RIP to the Sweetest Pug"
The Southern Charm matriarch looked back at some of her sweetest moments with the pooch.
Patricia Altschul’s "beloved" pug, Chauncey, has died.
The Southern Charm matriarch shared the sad news via Instagram on Saturday (November 17), nearly nine years after welcoming the dog into her home.
“We had to say goodbye to our beloved Chauncey,” she captioned an Instagram tribute. “RIP to the sweetest pug.”
The carousel was a collection of Chauncey’s sweetest and most memorable moments with the Florida-born socialite. One slide showed Chauncey doing a campaign shoot for Patricia’s caftan line, and another captured him sitting in front of Patricia’s 2017 book, The Art of Southern Charm, which featured him on the cover.
There were also a few clips of the pug playing with Patricia’s other dogs, Monty the Lagotto Romagnolo and Peaches the Pomeranian, who was apparently quite fond of Chauncey. But perhaps the most touching photos were those featuring Michael Kelcourse, Patricia’s good friend and former butler who died in October.
Southern Charm-ers send Patricia their condolences
Patricia has since received a heartwarming show of support from her fellow Bravolebrities, including The Real Housewives of New York City alum Sonja Morgan and Southern Charm-ers Leva Bonaparte and Austen Kroll.
“So glad I was able to bring him to one last party on camera,” Austen commented. “He was always my favorite. Great dog, better friend”
Paricia also received condolences from Southern Charm alums Naomie Olindo and Cameran Eubanks Wimberly, who offered some comforting words for Patricia: “Oh Pat, I’m so sorry,” Cameran wrote. “I know Michael was there at the rainbow bridge to greet Chauncey with open arms.”
Patricia introduces Chauncey to her fans
Patricia received Chauncey in 2015 from her son, Whitney Sudler-Smith. She introduced the family addition via Instagram, where she also shared details on the dog’s impressive pedigree.
“Meet Chauncey an early gift from [Whitney],” she captioned the post, which showed the then-puppy in a yellow harness. “He is descended from the only pug to win best in show [at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show]. I just might get into breeding ( a fashionable hobby on [Southern Charm]).”
When does Southern Charm Season 10 premiere?
Fans will get to see more of Patricia in Southern Charm Season 10, premiering at 9 p.m. ET, December 5, on Bravo. She and Whitney will be joined by returning cast members Austen, Leva, Madison LeCroy, Craig Conover, Taylor Ann Green, Rodrigo Reyes, Shep Rose, and Jarrett “JT” Thomas, as well as newbies Salley Carson, Molly O’Connell, and Patricia’s close friend Ryan Albert.
