Is Captain Glenn Shephard Engaged? What to Know About His Relationship

Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans have been thrilled to learn more about Captain Glenn Shephard’s girlfriend — or, as he put it, the “mystery woman” in his life — over the past few months. However, as he’s continued to be more open about his relationship with Danelis “Dani” Jimenez, some have begun to speculate if it’s gone to the next level — especially after a few eagle-eyed followers noticed a ring.
Thankfully, the yachtie was quick to set the record straight — and on more than one occasion. Read on to learn everything he’s said about the romance.
Is Captain Glenn engaged?
The captain first addressed the engagement rumors on November 20. “It was just a ring,” he wrote alongside a carousel of photos from his and Danelis’ San Juan excursion. “Neither of us are married nor engaged, but I can report we are very much in love, and for us, that’s what counts.”
“PS for those that sent us congratulations, I can assure you they were not wasted,” Captain Glenn added. “Our relationship is worth celebrating.”
More Ring Rumors
Just two days later, Captain Glenn poked fun at the rumors once again, this time alongside a gallery of photos from a trip he and Danelis took to Spain. “PS I had to Photoshop that ring out,” he wrote, “so the ring spotters don’t go off the rails again.”
A Relationship Update
Captain Glenn decided it was “time to shed a little light” on his girlfriend in December, which led to him once again clarifying their relationship status. First, he revealed that he and Danelis — “or as I prefer to call her, Mia Moore,” he wrote — began dating before the first season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht (which premiered in February 2020). Then Captain Glenn referred back to the piece of jewelry Danelis can sometimes be seen wearing. “That ring is just costume [jewelry] (I don’t even want to guess what that would be worth if it were real, but that’s not our style) which happened to be on the wrong or right finger,” he wrote. “Neither of us are engaged nor married but we are deeply in love.”
Captain Glenn went on to discuss their relationship even more, opening up about how it can be “a bit complicated due to language differences” and how they communicate using both Spanish and English. “The crazy thing is it works,” he said. “We kinda have an unspoken language, and we rarely have big arguments as we simply lack the linguistic tools to express that depth of resentment, it’s at these moments that I call her Danelis, luckily they are rare and short lived.”
The Below Deck Sailing Yacht captain continued to gush about his girlfriend, explaining that the “best thing about her” is “she doesn’t seem to be too [fazed] by how goofy I look.” That and she “puts up with all my silliness.”
“Oh and she seems to genuinely enjoy cruising on a little sailboat despite the inherent privations,” Captain Glenn added. “All in all, a match made in heaven.”
