Anthony Bourdain’s Apartment Is For Sale at $3.7 Million, a Relic of His Rare But "Comforting" Time at Home (UPDATED)
Anthony Bourdain traveled 250 days per year, but always said he enjoyed the comforts of home in New York.
UPDATE (SEPTEMBER 19, 3:56 P.M. ET): Anthony Bourdain’s NYC apartment on East 94th Street has been listed for sale at $3.7 million, according to a Wall Street Journal report. Bourdain bought the apartment with wife Ottavia Busia for $3.35 million in 2014.
The 2,250-square-foot apartment has five bedrooms; bamboo floors; an open kitchen with custom cabinets and a double oven; a washer/dryer; and Italian marble bathrooms, one with an imported Japanese tub.
Before he died however, Bourdain occupied a different apartment, a luxury rental described in the original story, which continues below.
Original story continues:
Some two months after Anthony Bourdain died, his New York apartment has hit the market. The legendary chef and Parts Unknown host was on the road for about 250 days each year, so for him, being at home was a rare — and extremely comforting — thing, even if he didn't want to spend more time there. “I really love doing laundry," he said in an interview with People not long before his death. "When I go home, putting my laundry in the machine and then hearing the dryer going around, that’s very comforting to me."
The rental listing shows that Bourdain had other comforts in his 1,250-square-foot living space. Naturally, the kitchen in the two-bedroom, two-bathroom home is stocked with top-notch appliances. It also has creature comforts that are anything but basic in New York City, including a walk-in closet and an in-unit washer and dryer for those therapeutic laundry sessions.
The unit, located on the 64th floor of the Time Warner Center, also has floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over the Manhattan skyline. Building amenities include a 24-hour doorman, a health club, a spa, a screening room, a sundeck, and a full gym.
