Jessica Alba Pinterest-Planned Her New California Dream Home: See Inside
Jessica Alba sought out home inspo online.
When it came time to design her new home, actress and The Honest Company founder Jessica Alba did just what the rest of us do: scoured the internet and added all her #inspo images to pin boards on Pinterest. And well, her deep web dive certainly paid off. She recently unveiled her house in the pages of Architectural Digest, and it’s gorgeous.
Alba shares the home with her husband, Cash Warren, and her three kids, Honor, Haven, and Hayes. Her intent was to make the house as cozy and family-friendly as possible without sacrificing her design cravings.
“I spend a lot of time on Pinterest,” Jessica confessed to AD in a home tour video that accompanies the spread. “I have many Pinterest boards. And I really wanted there to be a kind of an Old World French vibe mixed with a modern French apartment — and if you just kind of slam that together what would you get?”
Alba worked with Clements Design to execute her vision. The result is a stunning showplace of a home with a completely welcoming feel. Slipcovered furniture abounds because “you never know with three kids!” as Alba noted. Colors are soothing, surfaces are natural, everything is unfussy and feels lived in. Jessica even sourced some of her floor tiles at Lowes. (See them in the "dope" laundry room.)
“I just wanted to make sure that the house was, regardless of all the beautiful materials and everything we were going to use in the house and the colors, that it was also kid-friendly and trying to use as many natural materials as possible.”
The couple blew out a wall to let light flood into a much-used family room. And Jessica, who loves to cook, decked the kitchen out with a black Lacanche range, a deep butcher-block island, and a comfy breakfast nook (that serves as a breakfast, lunch, and dinner nook, she said). But the pièce de résistance is the outdoor space, which includes a big backyard where the kids can entertain themselves with the pool or the hand-me-down jungle gym the family inherited from a friend.
“We wanted a place to watch our kids play and grow up,” Jessica told AD, and the couple definitely got what they wanted.
