Ashley Darby Reveals She Almost Quit Filming RHOP After Last Season
"It was very trying," The Real Housewives of Potomac new mom shared at BravoCon 2019.
With husband Michael Darby’s sexual assault allegations, plus new rumors brought to light at The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 4 reunion, Ashley Darby’s marriage faced many hardships last season. The negativity surrounding her relationship proved to be so much that Ashley even considered stepping away from the camera.
At the Housewife 2 Housewife panel at BravoCon 2019 (which also featured Gizelle Bryant, Melissa Gorga, and Emily Simpson), Ashley got real about the toll filming took on her and her family during that rough time. When a fan asked Ashley what made her want to continue being on camera after allegations surrounding her family came out, she revealed: “To be honest with you, I almost didn’t — it was very trying.”
The Potomac yogi also shared that her son, Dean Darby, played a role in that thought process. "A lot of this is because I do have a baby now and my child can’t decide if he wants to be on the show. So while I’m an adult and I can make the decision for myself, I would feel a little more protective about Dean, exposing Dean to being in that world of negativity that would come, so I almost didn’t," she continued.
“But I was massaged and coerced by my friends,” she said as she gave Gizelle a friendly smirk on stage.
Back in September, Michael expressed his gratitude for having Ashley by his side during the couple’s difficult time. "She has been a stalwart, she's been behind me all the way, and with our child, there are so many more important things in life than having to deal with this," he said at the reunion. "Seeing all this happen, I knew was gonna happen, it just makes me look at our child and realize that there is some hope for the future because this is not the way the future should be."
Since the allegations, Michael and Ashley have both moved forward and are focused on the future and raising their adorable baby boy, who is literally Michael’s twin.
