Emily Simpson Gives an Update on Her Health Journey: “I Wanted to Lose Weight for Myself”
The Real Housewives of Orange County mom divulged the details of her wellness routine, including meals, workouts, and more.
On the June 28 episode of Jeff Lewis’ SiriusXM show Jeff Lewis Live, Emily Simpson got real about her recent body changes.
The Real Housewives of Orange County cast member revealed that, after being “really depressed” after gaining weight, she went to a doctor who suggested she try Ozempic — the semaglutide drug used for weight management — due to her being diagnosed as prediabetic. “So I did. I did that in December,” Emily shared on the show. “For one month, and you know, that was a great kickstart for me.”
Emily went on to reveal that while the drug was able to help her with certain habits like “not really paying attention” to what she was consuming, she ultimately stopped taking it because she was experiencing fatigue.
“I didn’t like the way it made me feel lethargic and it made me just not have a lot of energy, which was hard with three little kids,” she explained. “But it does make you feel full […] it was like a refresh.”
In addition to sharing her story on Jeff’s show, Emily often answers questions from fans on her Instagram account. On July 15, the California mom took to her Instagram Stories to reveal numerous details about her weight loss and wellness journey.
Scroll down to find out everything she shared:
How much weight did Emily Simpson lose?
Emily first answered a fan who inquired about Emily’s weight loss.
“I think 35 pounds as of now. I have a goal weight in mind and I haven’t reached it yet. It’s what I weighed through my 30s,” Emily wrote in response. “I weigh myself weekly with [trainer Paulina Hefferan] and she has strict instructions to only tell me when I reach that goal (if I ever reach it).”
What’s more, Emily revealed the details of her workouts.
“For the past few months I’ve been working out [seven] days a week on average,” Emily shared after a social media user asked about her “exercise program.”
“Of course I miss a day here and there but it’s not often,” Emily continued. “I do 15-20 minutes of cardio followed by about 45 minutes of weights and then I end with 10 minutes of cardio.”
The volunteer attorney again tagged Hefferan, crediting the celebrity trainer for helping her with workouts.
What is Emily Simpson’s diet?
When a fan asked Emily about her “go-to protein meals,” Emily dished on what she loves consuming essentially every day.
“I have a protein shake every morning after I work out,” she shared. “For lunch I make two eggs with salsa and vegan cheese with sliced avocado. I eat this almost every day. I found that it’s easier to just find things you like and repeat instead of trying to be creative.”
Later, a follower questioned if Emily struggled with “emotional eating.”
“No, I struggled with ‘mindless eating.’ I honestly never paid much attention to what I ate and I never planned meals,” Emily clarified. “I would eat mindlessly all day and then think I never ate anything.”
Did Emily Simpson get liposuction and skin removed?
Emily shared that while she had been “working out and lifting weights for years” and that gave her “a lot of muscle tone,” she still wanted to get liposuction for some “stubborn” areas on her arms.
“The lipo in my arms really made a huge difference aesthetically in my appearance [because] once my arms healed and the swelling went down[,] my arms were already very toned,” she stated. “I honestly don’t regret the lipo in my arms and I’ll never apologize for it or feel guilty.”
Moreover, Emily answered a fan who asked about getting skin removed on her arms in addition to liposuction.
“Contrary to what people like to comment, I have had no skin removal or skin tightening procedures on my arms,” she wrote. “[That’s] not to say I never will.”
Emily Simpson gives more details on her health journey
In addition to giving fans the more granular details of her fitness routines and meals, Emily shared a bikini selfie and reflected on how she’s been feeling overall.
“I honestly feel the fittest, healthiest, happiest, strongest, and best I’ve felt in about seven years. I have more energy than I’ve had in years,” she beamed. “I wake up at 6 a.m. every morning and get coffee, then go to the gym.”
Moreover, after a fan asked if Emily’s husband, Shane Simpson, was “supportive” of her journey, Emily divulged how the lawyer had been there for her throughout the process.
“Shane is supportive of everything I do,” she gushed. “And just for the record[,] I wanted to lose weight for myself. He never made me feel badly [sic] about myself ever.”
