Gia Giudice and Melissa Gorga Open Up About Their Family Drama
The RHONJ relatives separately weighed in on the latest Giudice-Gorga family feud at BravoCon 2022.
Teresa Giudice’s feud with her brother, Joe Gorga, and sister-in-law Melissa Gorga has undeniably left The Real Housewives of New Jersey family fractured. Though all three were present at BravoCon 2022, there was no family reunion to speak of, but the topic of their estrangement certainly came up more than once.
One person who’s been caught in the middle of the drama is Teresa’s 21-year-old daughter, Gia Giudice, who confirmed to Us Weekly at the New York City event on Friday, October 14, that the rift has taken its toll on everyone. “I’m just also trying to be the bigger person,” she told the magazine.
When it comes to her relationship with Uncle Joe, the RHONJ daughter admitted there’s “not really” any communication between them at the moment. Even so, Gia revealed that she “texted him on his birthday,” which Joe celebrated on August 21, further explaining that they do chat “for, like, respect” on holidays, including Father’s Day.
Elsewhere at BravoCon, Melissa weighed in on the family feud in an interview with E! News. “There’s always highs and lows for us in our relationship,” she shared on Sunday, October 16. “I would say right now is definitely one of our lows. We are family, and I think right now the family just needs a little time. I think we need time, I don’t think anybody is in it right now. I’m listening to her interviews, sounds like she’s not in it, not willing to move forward.”
Noting that the estrangement also “ends up dividing the cast” on RHONJ’s upcoming Season 13, Melissa added, “I feel like Joe and I have had enough. We are exhausted. Sometimes family needs space, and right now we need space.”
Ironically, during two separate BravoCon panels, both Joe and Teresa blamed each other for publicly discussing their problems in various interviews. “I’m just hearing in the press that she says there’s no fixing our relationship,” Joe explained, adding that “whatever [Teresa] says goes” since she’s the elder sibling. “I’ve done everything right, I really have. I respected her, I loved her, I respected [Luis “Louie” Ruelas], and my wife has respected her.”
Later, Teresa responded to her brother’s “shenanigans,” as she called them. “Family shouldn’t be acting this way. Right now, I just got married, I’m focusing on my children, I’m focusing on my husband,” the RHONJ cast member said. “This is not how I was raised. What’s going on is disgusting, it really is.”
Moving forward, “I want him to wish me well, and I wish him well,” Teresa continued. “And that’s it. I just want peace.”
