Alexia Nepola Shares New Details About Her Living Situation: "I'm Not Happy About This"
The Real Housewives of Miami cast member shared why she was "really worried" about a major life change.
On Season 6, Episode 9 of The Real Housewives of Miami, Alexia Nepola was helping her son Peter pick out some furniture for his new home, but she was also preoccupied with her own living situation.
As you can see in the video above, Alexia and Todd Nepola had been living in a 10,000-square-foot apartment with massive balconies, stunning views, and a private garage. However, Alexia explained during the December 27 RHOM episode that she and her husband were preparing to quickly move out of the home.
Why did Alexia Nepola and Todd Nepola move out of their Miami apartment?
In an episode interview, Alexia explained why she was saying goodbye to the gorgeous apartment. "We have been renting for the last six years, and, unfortunately, the owner decided to sell his apartment, and he sold it really quick because I made it so beautiful," she said. "And now I need to move out."
As Alexia talked to Peter and her younger son, Frankie, about rental apartments, she explained, "That's why we have to move out, because we rent. We didn't buy the unit." She added, "Todd doesn't think it's a good financial decision to buy an apartment. He likes to buy commercial property."
"We're kind of, like, in denial," Alexia admitted to her sons. "We thought [the owner] would extend our lease for, like, three months, and then we would have more time. But that didn't happen. So, you know, those are the negatives of not owning your place."
Alexia was nervous about starting the search for a new place to call home. "Finding a home or a condo in Miami right now is really difficult because everything is so overpriced," she said in an interview. "I don't know what I'm gonna do."
Although Alexia told Peter that she and Todd were "considering maybe buying a house," they were "concerned about Frankie staying in the house alone." As she went on to explain, she felt their current apartment building was "safe" and "secure."
The timing of the move only added to Alexia's stress. "We have to be out of our apartment in 15 days," she told her sons.
As Todd clarified later in the episode, the couple actually had a bit more time than that because they had their lease until the end of the month. Still, that didn't ease Alexia's nerves. "I feel like 15 days and 30 days is still in the same month. We gotta be out by the end of the month," she said. "At this point, I don't think that's going to make a difference."
Alexia Nepola opens up about her next home
As the couple discussed what they were looking for in their next home, Alexia declared, "I don't want to downsize."
"We've really gotten accustomed to the privacy and the fact that we have space," she continued. "I already had to go from a house to an apartment."
As for what their new digs could cost, Alexia said in an interview, "Todd is very realistic, and he does know real estate, so he knows that we're going to be spending anywhere between $40,000 and $50,000 for our rental."
Although Alexia was concerned about the move, Todd felt differently. "Todd sees this as an exciting time in his life where there's change and growth, and we're going to move to a new, beautiful place," Alexia explained. "I want to pretend that everything's going to be fine, but I'm really worried because it's hard to find a place and move a whole family. I'm not happy about this."
On Season 6, Episode 11 of RHOM, which aired on January 10, Alexia and Frankie went to check out a potential new apartment, and she wasn't exactly thrilled that Todd was out of town during the process. "I really don't like this pressure that I have to find the apartment, but I know what's best for our family," she said. "Especially for Frankie."
Although Alexia liked the nearly 4,000-square-foot apartment with four bedrooms, five bathrooms, and gorgeous beach views, she wasn't quite convinced it was her family's next home. "This can work, for a year," she said about the unit, which cost $45,000 per month to rent. "It's like a good beach apartment, but to have to live there every day, a family, going from what we have now, it's just too small for us."
While we wait to see where Alexia and Todd ended up, watch the video above to take a tour of their incredible apartment.
