Cynthia Bailey Shares the Thing That Surprised Her About Noelle Robinson Coming Out
At BravoCon 2019, The Real Housewives of Atlanta mother shared her response to the aftermath of that Season 12 scene.
On The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 12 premiere, Noelle Robinson spoke frankly with mom Cynthia Bailey about her sexual identity (catch up here.) Sharing that she'd met some women at college who'd sparked her romantic interest, the Howard University student explained that she's sexually fluid.
After the confession, Noelle received an outpouring of love and support from Bravo fans. But how is her mom and protector, Cynthia, feeling, now that her daughter's personal life has been discussed on national television? In a nutshell, Cynthia's the proud mama she's always been – and she's grateful for the fans who've shown Noelle some love.
"It's been amazing," she said of the RHOA scene's aftermath while chatting with BravoTV.com at BravoCon in the video above. "I mean, she didn't sorta come out, she did pretty much, you know, let everyone know that she is fluid." She added, "That meant a lot to me for her to just kind of get in front of it. Just because I wanted her to tell her own story. This is what this [RHOA] platform is for. I wanted to make sure she was protected and she told her own story."
However, there was one thing that surprised Cynthia. "The response has been overwhelming," she shared. "That I didn't expect. I just wanted her to tell her story and us just move on. But it's turned into just an overwhelming whole community of just love that we didn't know even existed. Well, we knew it existed, but we didn't know how it was going to be received, and it's just been amazing."
