Jasmine Ellis Cooper had a very relatable reason for wanting to keep her pregnancy news quiet.
As every pregnant woman knows, deciding the exact moment when to let the world in on the growing secret is a difficult decision.
For Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard’s Jasmine Ellis Cooper, staying mum about her pregnancy news, despite the growing speculation from her housemates, was a personal decision she made until she was safely into the second trimester.
Why did Jasmine Ellis Cooper keep her pregnancy news secret?
When Jasmine arrived at the villa for another summer, she told her housemates she was embracing the idea of a “sober summer,” but in Season 2, Episode 4 she finally let it slip that there was a much more significant (yet adorably tiny) reason for her decision not to drink.
“Silas and I are expecting,” a beaming Jasmine announced to producers, while sharing an precious sonogram photo. “But I’m waiting until I hit my second trimester before telling the group, which is only in a couple of days.”
With Silas Cooper deployed overseas as part of his post with the United States Army Reserves, Jasmine has had to navigate the major life change on her own during the summer vacation.
And as she confessed to Silas in a video call, keeping the pregnancy a secret from the rest of the cast has been getting increasingly harder.
“I think that people are starting to suspect,” she told her husband. “So I just, I don’t know, I just wanna get it out.”
Though Silas is thousands of miles away, the expectant father made sure to offer Jasmine all the virtual support he can, whether it was sending her flowers, gushing over her growing baby bump, or encouraging her to follow her heart in regular video calls.
“Look, this is yours to share when you want to share it, right?” he encouraged her as she tried to time her announcement to the others.
Jasmine Cooper talks being in the house without Silas
The former Playboy bunny admitted she’s been feeling a bit lost this season without her hubby.
“This is my first time ever coming here without Silas and he introduced me to the island,” she shared in the truth booth. “Silas not just working, but being deployed right now, I don’t know if everybody in the house realizes how much I need them.”

While Jasmine has yet to let the rest of the cast know about the baby bundle of joy coming her way soon, she did tearfully admit in the episode that she might be in need of some extra support.
“I needed y’all this summer,” she said after emotions reached a fever pitch at a disastrous dinner out. “I didn’t need no BS, I just needed fun and support. I am going through a lot right now.”

Silas was still deployed overseas when Jasmine welcomed son Silas “Si” Geplay Cooper Jr. on Feb. 22, 2024.
While it's yet to be seen how her housemates will react to her emotional display on Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard, Jasmine later told NBC’s Today that she did eventually reveal the news and found herself basking in support from her friends after the reveal.
"I definitely used that pregnancy card, full stop." she said, adding she didn’t shy away from asking for help. "'Hey, can you grab me this? I'm so hungry. I'm so tired. Could you give me that blanket?' It was nice. It was very nice."
While he’s yet to meet his son in person, Silas is already in love with his mini-me.
“"He's so excited. I can already tell our son is going to have him wrapped around his finger,” she told Today of their regular video calls. “And it's just been really cool to just kind of keep him developmentally up with how our son's growing."
Silas is expected to return home this summer, but until then, Jasmine said Silas has taken comfort in the fact that her grandma and mom have stepped up to fill in while he’s gone.
"There's so many women around me that are just constantly making sure that I'm eating, that the baby's good, so I think it's given him peace of mind,” she shared.
