Candiace Dillard Bassett Shares a Surprising Update on Her Relationship with Her Mom, Dorothy Watts
The RHOP cast member revealed why her mom is viewing her differently these days.
Since she joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Potomac on Season 3, Candiace Dillard Bassett has let viewers in on her sometimes-complicated relationship with her mom, Dorothy Watts.
The mother-daughter duo has chronicled their joint therapy sessions together on the show, and Dorothy's conflicts with Candiace's husband, Chris Bassett.

Where Candiace Dillard Bassett Stands with Her Mom, Dorothy Watts
On Episode 4, Candiace invited her mom over to her home to enjoy some wine in the backyard. First, the pair chatted in the kitchen about Candiace's plans to continue touring to promote her Deep Space (Deluxe Edition) album.
As Candiace explained in an interview on the episode, her touring commitments have allowed Dorothy to see her in a different light.
"My mom seeing me as an artist has, perhaps, helped her to grow a newfound respect for me, and it's been really nice," Candiace explained.
"I mean, we still get to tussling every now and then, but, it's less," she joked. "Thank you, Jesus, for less."

Once the ladies made it outside to continue chatting, Candiace talked about the expense of her first tour.
"It's coming together..." she said about her upcoming schedule. "Just last year, it was a promotional tour, which means I spent so much money the first go-round to get exposure, to get people to see me. And so this go-round, I'm getting more cities, so the promotional tour worked, it's just [that] I cannot spend that much money again."
As Candiace explained in a separate interview, tour life isn't as glitzy as some might expect.
"Road life... it's dry, like there's no moisture. It's not glamorous at all," she said. "The upside is I love the energy that I get from people [who] come from far and wide to hear me scream into a microphone."
Though Candiace loves the reaction she gets from her fans, her touring schedule (and the cost) has taken a bit of a toll on her marriage to Chris.
"Our biggest arguments were about his work schedule..." Candiace told her mom, before acknowledging in another interview that it was "hard" on her and their marriage when Chris was working 12-hour days at his restaurant.
However, now Candiace is the one who has that kind of schedule.
"Is it a double standard? Yes, because I am now the one [who's] gone all the time, and Chris is home more," she said. "But, we're making it work [be]cause I still miss him."
