There’s a New Development in Lala Kent and Katie Maloney's Rift
The Vanderpump Rules castmates were previously on the outs for reasons unknown.
We have an update on Katie Maloney and Lala Kent's friendship after both Vanderpump Rules cast members admitted that the "vibes" were "definitely off" between them last month.
According to Lala, any drama that was coming between them has since been "resolved." She told the Daily Mail as much on February 7, explaining, "I know we both care about the friendship. We’re gonna have ups and downs; We’re a passionate group of people. But we’re good."
Lala opened up on the topic in a separate interview with Us Weekly, too. “I think [Katie] has her feelings, and I always want to make sure she feels protected and heard," she said. "And I feel like we’re back in a very good place. But this is what happens when you get a group like this together.”
“We’re very passionate, you know?" Lala continued. "We definitely feel the feels ... I just want everyone to know that I love you, I care about you, and how can I baby you in moments where you’re not feeling safe? I’m trying to baby everyone.”
Katie elaborated slightly, attributing the tiff to "miscommunication or lack thereof," she told the Daily Mail. "But we're on the mends."
Vanderpump Rules fans first learned of the drama when Katie was asked if she and Lala were “on good terms still” during the January 13 episode of her podcast, with the fan who submitted the question adding, “vibes are off.”
Katie's response? “Vibes are definitely off.”
She didn’t divulge any additional details at the time, but Lala later addressed the matter on her own podcast after she was apparently flooded with DMs inquiring about the situation. As Lala explained, "I was like, ‘Why are people asking this?’ Well, now I know that someone asked Katie this on her podcast and she said the ‘vibes are definitely off.’”
"So, I guess the vibes are definitely off,” Lala added.
Her co-host then asked if that was "news" to her," to which she responded, "After the DMs I got from her the other day, not so much."
It wasn't clear what Katie’s supposed messages were about, but Lala alluded to Katie being upset because she may have forgotten Katie’s recent birthday.
“Just like I’ve said before, I got a lot going on. That is the least of my concern, and I hope she had a very happy birthday,” Lala recalled. “It slipped my mind that it was her birthday because it was MLK Day. I completely spaced it with MLK Day happening and I had Ocean and she was feeling sick.”
Thankfully, any turmoil seems to be in the pair's past.
