Toya Bush-Harris Is Considering Adopting a Child Following Her Miscarriage
The Married to Medicine wife opens up about the future of her baby plans.
Toya Bush-Harris began this season of Married to Medicine with some sad news: She shared that she had suffered a miscarriage at about six-and-a-half or seven weeks pregnant right before she started filming this season.
Since the Married to Medicine ladies always let us into the rawest, most intimate parts of their lives, Toya said she knew this was something she was going to have to share with fans, as painful as it was to talk about. "Literally, I took my kids to Anguilla for spring break and was on my way home, and I was like, I felt something. And I knew. And so I had no choice [but to talk about it]," Toya told The Daily Dish during an interview in New York City on October 14. "I couldn't even fix my process, my thoughts. And so it was visible. I wasn't the smiley, the happy, my kids weren't happy. And so it was difficult to share."
Toya said that she has found comfort in learning that other people have gone through a similar situation and that by speaking out, she may be able to help those who are still struggling. "But I have to keep telling myself that it wasn't just something that I was dealing with, which was something that I noticed along the way. So many people started coming out of the woodwork talking about the problems they went through conceiving," she said. "So if this is gonna help somebody, then I can do it. If not, then I don't want to talk about it anymore because it was a lot of talking about it."
The Married to Medicine wife said she "really never even thought about" the possibility of having a miscarriage when she got pregnant with her sons, recalling the time she went on a ride during her babymoon in Dubai when she was pregnant with her first child, Ashton, despite husband Dr. Eugene Harris' warning. "And here I am now like, gosh, could you have imagined if I'd have lost my baby boy Ashton? I would have died," Toya said.
These days, Toya said she still thinks about expanding her family. "Some days I do. Whenever I'm around someone that says they're having a girl. Or, you know, just when I see little girls," she shared. "I can imagine like a little mini-me."
It sounds like the rest of Toya's family wouldn't mind having a new addition, either. "I think my husband, some days he does, too. But then there's other times where we're like, 'Oh, we're so comfortable. We're at a good place. Our kids are at a good age,'" she said. "I don't know, but [sons Ashton and Avery] definitely want a little sister. They still talk about it all the time."
So Toya said she is considering adoption as she thinks about the future of her family. "Maybe we'll adopt. That's what I'm thinking," she said. "That would be great."
