The Real Housewives of Miami Reunited to Mourn the Loss of Mama Elsa at Her Funeral
Marysol Patton shared a touching tribute to her late mother, Elsa Patton.
Elsa Patton, who is lovingly known as Mama Elsa by fans of The Real Housewives of Miami, was laid to rest on Friday, May 17, following her passing over Mother's Day weekend, according to Page Six. The small funeral was held at Graceland Memorial Park in Coral Gables, Miami.
Several of the Miami Housewives came out to pay their respects to Mama Elsa, as well as support their fellow Housewife Marysol Patton as she said goodbye to her mom. “Marysol was there surrounded by fellow ‘Housewives’ Alexia [Echevarria], Lisa Hochstein and Adriana De Moura who opened the ceremony choking back tears talking about the honor of being friends with Elsa,” a source told Page Six.
The insider also told Page Six that Marysol delivered an emotional eulogy expressing “relief that she is now resting after a long illness."
Marysol posted a touching message in loving memory of Mama Elsa on Instagram on Monday, May 20. "She’s An Angel Watching Over All Of Us," she wrote on Instagram, along with "#Mommy."
Mama Elsa passed away over Mother's Day weekend "surrounded by her family and close friends," the Patton family said in a statement to Page Six at the time. She was 84.
Tributes immediately began pouring in for Mama Elsa following her passing, including loving messages from Andy Cohen, Luann de Lesseps, Mercedes "MJ" Javid, and Reza Farahan.
Adriana also shared that she paid her "last homage" to Mama Elsa and continued to show her support for Marysol on Instagram after the funeral.
Mama Elsa's family also showed gratitude for all of the love and support she has received over the years. "The family is so very grateful to the many fans and friends who have continued to ask for her and offer their prayers and best wishes,” the statement said. “They thank the community, her caretakers, and the many friends who have continued to check in on Elsa from all over the world. Their support has meant the world to the family.”
The Patton family's statement added, “In lieu of tears the family asks you to raise a glass of good champagne in honor of Elsa’s memory."
