The Southern Charm cast member is upgrading her Charleston abode with a few DIY projects: "I’m gonna play Bob the Builder."
A home improvement can be an exciting yet scary experience filled with annoying setbacks and unexpected lessons. Just ask Taylor Ann Green.
More than three years after purchasing her Charleston abode, the Southern Charm cast member embarked on a major renovation journey that included several DIY projects. Taylor shared her progress in a series of July 18 Instagram Stories in which she switched out a couple of ceiling fixtures.
“We’re gonna do some adulting today,” she said in the first video. “I’m gonna play Bob the Builder and switch my light fixtures. I’m doing a big renovation on my house. I’m gonna take it upon myself to do my own light fixtures. I have no idea what I’m doing... Wish me luck.”

Taylor Ann Green upgrades her home lighting: "I am so proud"
The Southern Charm-er replaced her old drum pendant fixture with a beaded “boho chandelier” she purchased from Amazon. After successfully installing the new light, she returned to the ’Gram for the big reveal.
“I think we’re doing pretty good. I think I kinda know what I’m doing,” she said before highlighting the living room addition. “I cannot believe that I actually just did that. Anyways, moment of the truth: I turned the power back on… but let’s see if this works.”
Taylor proceeded to hit the light switch, causing the chandelier to illuminate.
“Oh my gosh. I am so proud of myself. It works!” she said. “I didn’t blow up the house. I have one more to do, but I’m gonna get [her boyfriend, Gaston Rojas] to come and do that one because she was tough. Anyways, that was fun! Thanks for joining along.”

However, Taylor’s enthusiasm was short-lived. Minutes later, the former orthodontics assistant confessed she wasn’t happy with the change.
“OK, so update: I don’t like the lights,” she said in another Story. “I’m going to ixnay the ones that I got and get new ones. But while I’m at it, I’m gonna change [the ceiling fan]. I just got the fan so I just need to assemble it and… Wish me luck.”
Taylor had clearly caught the DIY bug and went on to remove her old ceiling fan and successfully assembled the new one. But she unfortunately hit another roadblock.

“OK, I’m just gonna go ahead and say I’m very proud of this,” she said while filming the uninstalled fan. “The fact that I got that put together, the other fan taken down — I’m standing on this chair, I’m holding the nails in my teeth, I got the screwdriver shoved into my shirt, I’m getting the wires connected.”
As Taylor attempted to hang the fan, she realized the mounting hardware was too large for the existing ceiling hole.
“I’m gonna have to hire someone to come do it,” she said about the fan installation. “That’s a little bit above my paygrade but I’m proud of this, getting the majority of it done. So send help.”
Since purchasing her condo in Southern Charm Season 8, Taylor has shared a few looks at its serene interior and cozy outdoor space, which received a much-needed refresh back in March. It's unclear what other home projects Taylor has up her sleeve, but we're sure she'll share the process with her fans.
