Padma Lakshmi Explains Why She Started Showing Her Daughter's Face on Instagram
The Top Chef host commented on the decision regarding her daughter's image when asked by a fan.
This week, Padma Lakshmi took to Instagram to post an incredible throwback photo of herself with her daughter, captioning the adorable and empowering mother-daughter moment: "Me and #littlehands on a trip to DC last year," with a call to action for everyone to get out and vote.
After sharing the epic throwback and message, one fan asked the Bravo's Top Chef host in the comments on Instagram: "You used to hide her face. Why the change? Great photo by the way."
From there, Padma explained why she opted to share more of Little Hands with the world. "I know!! I just, in quarantine it became hard to always keep her out of the kitchen. I wanted to be helpful to people by doing the little cooking videos and she would always come in. Now I’ve just given up a bit because well there are tons of pics of us together from paparazzi on the streets on NYC anyway," Padma noted. "So I’m not sure what I achieved by always putting stars in her eyes. And then I had her in the episode of Taste the Nation because I’d be a hypocrite if I asked others to share their life with me, but didn’t do it with my life and I wanted to be as authentic as possible for the show. So then it also seemed silly to go back to covering her face again."
Though, Padma noted, "But I’m still really conflicted about it. As evidenced by my meandering reply! LOL!"
