Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave Remembers "Splitting" Her First Mother's Day with Her Mother-in-Law
The RHOBH accountability coach will never forget her gift from husband Edwin Arroyave.
Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave's first Mother's Day was extra special, thanks to her husband, Edwin Arroyave.
When The Daily Dish caught up with Teddi in April, she reminisced about the first time she got to officially celebrate the holiday as a mom after giving birth to her first child, now-7-year-old daughter Slate, in 2012. "I know that Edwin wrote me like a letter, because that’s what I look forward to the most," Teddi said. "I remember getting a really loving card from Edwin."
Teddi also recalled celebrating with another guest of honor that day. "And then I remember splitting my Mother’s Day between myself and my mother-in-law," she said with a laugh.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member said the celebration was "nothing crazy," just going out for breakfast with the family, which was all that Teddi wanted. "We’re not the most over-the-top," she said. "We like to just do what we love, like go to places that we love to eat or do things that we love to do."
After undergoing IVF to conceive Slate, Teddi said that just becoming a mom was momentous enough. "I don’t think anything was super out of the ordinary, other than a heartfelt note and remembering how grateful I was to be a mom," Teddi shared. "It was really just like, wow, this was something that took us a long time, and I’m just really grateful. I can’t believe I’m actually a mom."
Mother's Day has only gotten better and better for Teddi. In addition to being a stepmom to Edwin's daughter from a previous relationship, Isabella, 11, she welcomed son Cruz, 5, in 2014. We imagine this Mother's Day will also be an unforgettable one as it is the first she will be celebrating with daughter Dove in tow after welcoming her in February.
