The Giudice and Gorga Families Open Up About Sharing Their Tension on RHONJ

Tensions came to a head for the in-laws on a recent episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

The Giudices and the Gorgas have experienced plenty of ups and downs together over the years, but tensions reached a new level on the March 31 episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

During a trip to the Jersey Shore, Teresa Giudice said that Joe and Melissa Gorga had not defended her in response to a comment Jackie Goldschneider made. As a result, her brother and sister-in-law felt that she was promoting a double standard, with Melissa saying, “Defend us against your ex-husband.” From there, the situation escalated. Following the heated conversation, both sides of the family have reflected on the things that were said.

“Tonight’s episode is hard for my girls and I. Joe [Giudice] is the father to my children and even though we split, I respect his relationship with my daughters, so it’s hard for them to see my brother disparage him, for the sake of my daughters who have already been through so much loss,” Teresa wrote in an Instagram post alongside a photo with Gia, Gabriella, Milania, Audriana, and their father. “My mother adored Joe and that’s what my girls saw and remember.”

Teresa continued her post to change the tone of the situation: “I hope from this point we can all move forward on a more positive note for the sake of our family.”

Joe reposted Teresa’s photo, adding, “I truly appreciate and hope I will continue to be present in my best friend’s life. A great person, mom and confident individual.” He also mentioned that he recently got the opportunity to meet Teresa’s new boyfriend, Luis “Louie” Ruelas, and his son.

When recently chatting with ET, Melissa was asked if she felt the March 31 episode was at all comparable to the drama the family experienced during her son Joey’s christening in Season 3. “To me, absolutely not. My son’s christening was a fiasco,” she explained. “But I would say it will remind you of that deep hurt that the family used to feel. It will give you that old vibe of like, wow, these people used to really hurt over these situations, and you bring it back for two seconds and you can see it still runs deep.”

Melissa went on to explain how her relationship with Teresa has changed over the years. Despite the fact that they don’t always see eye to eye, they have certainly learned to understand each other a bit more.

“Teresa and I, we have an understanding now. We know each other. She knows how far she can go with me , where before, I think she used to push me more. She doesn’t do that anymore. She knows where I’m going to like, explode, and she’s learned me and I’ve learned her, and I think that we figured that out,” said Melissa. “It’s just one of those things, and I think it’s relatable to a lot of sister-in-laws. And I’m ok with Melissa and Teresa, and what we are and what we’re not.”

The moment also came up during the RHONJ Season 11 After Show. You can hear more about that emotional episode, below.
