Kathy Hilton Opens Up About Paris’ Surprise Baby News Days After Announcing London's Birth
The RHOBH sister also dished on what kind of mother Paris Hilton is.
It’s been a year of happy surprises for Kathy Hilton. The first occurred in early January when The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills sister learned that Paris Hilton had expanded their family. The heiress and her husband, Carter Reum, had welcomed a baby boy via surrogate but did not announce the arrival until the family's belated Christmas celebration.
Kathy told Extra she knew Paris had something special up her sleeve, but was completely surprised by the big reveal.
“I was in shock, I was in complete shock,” Kathy said in March. “We didn’t have our Christmas together because she was working out of the country. [Paris] said, ‘I have a surprise for you,’ and it was my Christmas present. Then she waited a few minutes and goes, ‘I have one more surprise for you.’ I thought maybe it’s a puppy because my husband and I lost my dog.”
As we now know, Kathy got something much better than a family pet; she got another grandchild.
Kathy Hilton says Paris is a "very sweet" mom
Fast-forward to Thanksgiving 2023, when Paris and Carter announced the birth of their second child: a baby girl named London. Kathy addressed the news during her and Paris’ appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where she was asked to describe the type of mom Paris is.
“Very, very sweet. So nurturing. Just look at her with dogs,” Kathy said during the November 29 episode, before sharing her reaction to the newborn. "I thought it was a dog when she surprised me. I thought it was a puppy or a monkey.”
Paris Hilton sheds more light on her daughter's name
Earlier in the episode, Paris explained how she landed on the name London, which she teased during a previous appearance on WWHL.
“You know, Paris, last time you were here, you discussed naming your son Phoenix, but you also let another name slip,” host Andy Cohen said, before playing a clip of the March 16 WWHL broadcast. “Take a look”
The screen then cut to Andy asking Paris if there was any “significance” to her son Phoenix’s name.
“I want to name my daughter London one day,” the DJ/media personality said back in March, “and I was thinking of a boy’s name that’s a city that also sounds good.”
In her new book, Paris: The Memoir, the mother of two spoke about her desire to have a baby girl and how she had already selected a name.
“We planned to name our girl London because I’ve always had this vision of myself with a daughter named London,” she wrote. “Not just a whim, like, ‘Oh how cute would that be?’ This was more than that. It was a key part of my vision of my perfect life. My daughter London. She would look like me. I would love her to the moon and back. She would be everything.”
Does Paris Hilton plan to have baby No. 3?
Now that she has a son and a daughter, many have wondered if Paris plans to have another child. Paris said she's primarily focused on her current infants but hasn't ruled out baby No. 3.
“We’ll see,” she told Andy in the November 29 WWHL episode. “I’m just loving having my little boy and girl right now. But I’m probably going to want a little sister for London.”
