Kate Chastain Told Cameras to "Stop Filming" Not Once But TWICE This Season of Below Deck
This season of Below Deck is "exceptionally dramatic" for the chief stew.
This season of Below Deck is truly unprecedented for Kate Chastain. Not only did the chief stew threaten to "quit," but she also asked the camera crew to stop filming her not once, but TWICE in this "exceptionally dramatic" season, something she has never done before, she recently told Decider. "I’m not doing it for TV, I’m like, stop filming, get away from me. We’re filmed 24/7," she said. "I did it twice this year."
But the gravity of these dramatic moments actually doesn't hit Kate until after the season is over. “When you’re living it, you’re worried about charter guests. It doesn’t feel dramatic in the moment, it feels like an issue or a bummer or whatever," Kate explained. "But then now that it’s about to come out, we’re like, oh my gosh, that happened and that happened. There’s a lot, a lot of drama.”
The above trailer for Season 7 of Below Deck confirms that, especially one moment where we see Kate flash a middle finger to the camera before closing the door behind her. “It looked real dramatic,” Kate told Decider. “Thank god I was wearing a gown, the door was shutting at the perfect time, I did a spin. It’s great.”
As for what drives Kate to that other dramatic moment in the trailer where she tells Ashton Pienaar, "Go find another chief stew. I quit," she recently told ET, "I was just frustrated. It was close quarters, and it was towards the end of the season and, in that moment, it was just kind of one of those, 'Eff you, eff you, you're cool, I'm out' [moments]."
The high-seas hijinks continue Mondays at 9/8c. Check out a preview of the next episode of Below Deck, below.
