Below Deck alum Kate Chastain also shared new details about how she's raising her adorable son, Sullivan Cay.
Kate Chastain is adjusting to the challenges of motherhood.
During a July interview with The Daily Dish, the Below Deck alum shared new details about living with her adorable son, Sullivan Cay, including how she decorated his nursery. In addition, Kate revealed how she has had to baby-proof her house now that Sullivan is getting older and a tad more rambunctious.
"What's interesting is, I mean, I have way too many toys for him, everything he could ever want," she shared during our exclusive chat. "Yet, for some reason, children just want to get into the cleaning cupboard under the sink and into the toilet and [to] play with the washing machine."
She added about the concerning development: "Actually just yesterday I heard the sound of running water and Sullivan had turned on the washing machine."
Instead of steering Sullivan away from the appliance, Kate shared how she had a new idea. "I was actually like, 'I'm going to encourage this. Yes, this is your new favorite toy,'" she joked. "'Now lemme just put a load in there and you can go to town. And then next week maybe we'll start learning how to fold the laundry game.'"
How Kate Chastain is decorating her son's nursery
In addition to talking about her unique baby-proofing skills and ideas, Kate also revealed to us how she's decorating Sullivan's nursery. Kate shared she's keeping things pretty traditional with a standard color scheme, but adding a few decorative flourishes that coincide with her love of travel.
"His room is the cutest room in the house and it is so themed," she shared in our interview. "The rug is blue and white, and then I have blue-and-white gingham curtains. I have posters from the South of France that I got when I traveled there. Pastels. So it's like a cool travel baby nursery. I love his room."
Kate, who also appears in the Below Deck Mediterranean After Show (watch above!), also shared that her tablescaping duties on Below Deck contributed to her aesthetic choices at home.
"Because tablescapes, usually you would theme them... The runner is like the base, and so you build it from there," she explained to The Daily Dish about her decorating habits of her beautiful "craftsman bungalow" home.
