Kate Chastain Says It's "Been Amazing" Bonding with These Below Deck Alums Over Motherhood
The former chief stew revealed she and her fellow Bravolebs have been exchanging mommy advice: "That's been amazing."
Kate Chastain has found a mommy support system within the Bravo-verse.
More than a year after welcoming her first child, Sullivan Cay, the Below Deck alum shed more light on her parenting journey and how it fostered stronger relationships with other ex-yachties, like Below Deck Mediterranean alum Jessica More.
“[Jessica’s] daughter, Charlie, is a little bit older than Sullivan,” Kate said during a July interview with The Daily Dish. “So she was the person I could [and] still can message at any time and be like, ‘OK, you just went through this, what should I expect?’ So that’s been amazing. She’s been so helpful.”
Jessica gave birth to her daughter in October 2022, roughly two years after her Below Deck Med exit.

Kate also confirmed that she and Below Deck Sailing Yacht alum Dani Soares and Below Deck Adventure alum Faye Clarke have bonded over motherhood. The former has a 3-year-old daughter named Lilly, while the latter has a 10-month-old girl named Brianna Maddox Mae Clarke.
“[Faye] DM’d me letting me know she was pregnant and she was doing it on her own… asking me for advice and all that,” Kate said.
Kate says she and fellow mom Hannah Ferrier are in a better place
Elsewhere in the interview, the former chief stew revealed where she currently stands with Below Deck Mediterranean alum Hannah Ferrier, who gave birth to her daughter, Ava Grace Roberts, in 2020. Kate alluded to her previous rift with Hannah, saying they reconnected after Sullivan was born.
“I think what’s really lovely is Hannah Farrier and I have been chatting again and we kind of didn’t talk for a while,” Kate said. “But us both being moms brought us back together. So that’s been a nice new development.”
Kate admits motherhood was harder than she anticipated
Kate announced her pregnancy in late 2022 and later confirmed she would raise her child “solo.” She told The Daily Dish she had underestimated just how hard motherhood would be, as she naively assumed it was “slightly more difficult than having a dog.”
“It surprises me how it affects every aspect of your life,” she said with a laugh. “Driving, eating, sleeping, everything. But what’s also surprising is you don’t even mind because you just love them so much.”
Kate said she also believed she could handle parenting duties much better than the average person, as she spent years working in the high-pressure yachting business.
“I thought I’d be super prepared to be a mom,” she admitted. “So I was like, everybody says it’s hard, but not everybody’s worked on yachts… And let me tell you, being a mom is way harder.”
