Kate Chastain Made an “Aesthetic” Change to Her Living Room Just For Her Son (PHOTO)
The Below Deck alum found the chicest way to babyproof her home for her son, Sullivan Kay.
Kate Chastain has made some pretty big changes to her life since giving birth to her son, Sullivan Cay, in May 2023.
The former Below Deck Chief Stew gave up a life of living and working on yachts to settle down in Florida and become a mom. And in the process, has been making some changes to her "craftsman bungalow" home, too.

The Traitors alum has been sharing the process of her home redesign to her Instagram Story, and just recently shared the small but gorgeous upgrades that she made to her living room.
A Look at Kate Chastain's Updated Living Room
Kate took to her Instagram Story, where she posted the details of her kid-friendly living room, next to her updated dining room, which is the perfect space for an almost 1-year-old boy.
"Trying to keep the baby proofing as aesthetic as possible..." Kate wrote over the photo.
As seen in the picture above, she decorated the space with moveable black and white rubber play mat tiles, to mimic a black and white checkerboard floor. These tiles are perfect for cleaning up any baby related spills while simultaneously protecting Sullivan's knees when he crawls on the floor. "[Not gonna lie] I love the checkerboard floor tiles," Kate added.
When Sullivan gets bored, he can play in his ball pit, equipped with multicolored balls, or his play saucer, which he was playing with in the photo that Kate posted to her feed. Fans might remember this ball pit from her Jan. 2024 parenting hack, when Kate taped down Sullivan's toys inside of the ball pit to keep him occupied and so she could have "10 minutes of free time."
"I guess this makes us both problem solvers," she wrote over the video.
These changes make the room even easier for Sullivan to navigate and play in, without Kate having to compromise on her design style. Whether or not Kate still uses tape in the living room is TBD.
Kate Chastain's Dining Room in her Florida Home
Just last week, Kate also took to her Instagram Story where she showed off her dining room to her Instagram followers. The mom of one showed off her dark wood dining table, with two large flower bouquets sitting on top of it.
"These. Flowers," Kate wrote over the photo.
Sullivan got in on the flower action, too, staring at the "beautiful" bouquet that Kate set out on the table. Although she might be familiar with setting up tablescapes during her time as Chief Stew on Below Deck, Kate told TODAY in February that motherhood has been an equally hard challenge.
"I really thought over the years, 'I can do motherhood. I did yachting.' It's so much more work than I expected," she said.
