Bobby Boyd’s Confessions About Being Married Caught Josh Flagg “By Surprise”
Go inside the MDLLA couple’s marriage.
Josh Flagg and Bobby Boyd have been married for two years and five months, and the Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles power agent admits that his husband continues to teach him a lot about himself.
Bobby wrote a blog post called "What It's Like Being Married to Josh Flagg" on his personal website that starts off with a loaded sentence: "In a word—exhausting." But he then goes on to elaborate that it's exhausting because their lives are a whirlwind of excitement.
"Josh challenges me in so many ways that no one else ever has before, which is one of the many reasons why I married him," he continued. "He truly is one of my greatest teachers. I know that sounds cheesy, but hear me out. When you are married to someone who challenges you in many different ways, you can’t help but learn so much about yourself along the way. Since we have such different personalities I have had to learn the art of practicing patience, and knowing when to compromise. Sometimes, I still agree to going out for the 6th night out in a row. These are just a few of the fundamental things I have learned in my marriage. Our experiences together have been some of the best times of my entire life."
He added that there are some "pretty nice perks" to being married to Josh.
"People take an interest in me, simply because of who my husband is," he wrote. "Now I’m not talking about being noticed on the street or being given the best table at a restaurant. I am talking about being able to make a difference. It helps me to feel heard and to have a voice in the world on topics I am passionate about. A perfect example is Project Angel Food, an organization that helps to deliver food to people with serious illnesses, who could use a little extra care. Knowing that I can make an impact is a tremendous gift and something I am grateful for."
Bobby has learned to "expect the unexpected" when it comes to Josh, who might want to whisk him away for a vacation at the drop of a hat: "Josh has an incredible way of making every day with me an adventure. You just never know what you are going to get with him, and it really can be such a pleasant surprise."
It's not all globetrotting and good times, but they get through it.
"The only difficulty is how determined and stubborn he can be once he has his sights set on what he wants," Bobby admitted. "While I’m sure his clients love that about him, it can be tough for us. However, I’ve yet to find anyone who would say that relationships are easy, and there are plenty of times where Josh is willing to compromise to make sure that we are both happy. We actually invested in going to therapy–not because we had problems, but because we are both a little Type A and wanted to learn how to best work out our compromises by putting the other person’s feelings first. It has made us so much stronger as a couple, but we are still always learning."
Bobby is also a realtor, and Josh has helped him gain more confidence.
"Josh also challenges me to speak up and to speak my mind. He has really provided me with a platform to come out of my shell. We have spent countless hours discussing our ideas on real estate and the housing market, and how to be better in our industry."
So what does Josh think of this confession?
"Apparently my husband @bboydla wrote a blog about what it’s like to be married to me," Josh wrote in an Instagram post after Bobby's blog went live. "My first thought was, 'yeah I’m going to have to veto this one.' But then I read it... and it really caught me by surprise. Not only is this his best blog yet (because it’s about me obviously) but I learned some things about myself that I didn’t even realize. I highly recommend you read it to get a real look inside our marriage off screen."
Here's to many more years of enlightenment for this sweet couple.
