Here's the Latest on Joe Giudice's Deportation Case
There is a new update in connection with the RHONJ husband's ongoing immigration and deportation case.
There is an update in Joe Giudice's ongoing immigration and deportation case following his appeal in the case being denied earlier this month. According to USA Today, The Real Housewives of New Jersey husband has been granted a temporary deportation delay in federal court after his legal team filed for a stay last week.
As previously reported, Joe was moved "to a facility in western Pennsylvania, which houses immigration detainees" after his release from prison in March. His lawyer James J. Leonard Jr. confirmed to PEOPLE that he had yet to see Teresa Giudice and his four daughters since being transferred.
His family and legal team are still fighting to keep Joe in the country after it was ruled last October that he would be deported to Italy following the completion of his prison sentence. Since his appeal was denied, his family has shared a petition with fans to help keep him in the country.
Joe served a 41-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to mail, wire, and bankruptcy fraud charges in 2014. With the case still in limbo, his family attorney previously told The Daily Dish in mid-April that they "will continue to fight to keep Mr. Giudice in the United States, the only country he knows, and reunite him with his wife and four daughters.”
