Heather Gay Is Sharing Her "Full Story" With a Memoir
The RHOSLC mom is opening up about her decision to leave Mormonism and other untold stories.
Heather Gay is putting it all on the table with her “vulnerable” new memoir. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast member recently announced that she wrote a book, titled Bad Mormon, which recounts her experiences going through an unexpected divorce, her decision to leave behind Mormonism, and the many challenges she faced thereafter as a single mother.
“I was raised Mormon but now I’m raising a glass of champagne and writing all about it!!” Heather announced in a October 20 Instagram post. “I’m so excited to share my full story with you in my book BAD MORMON, coming next summer!”
She added, “Huge thanks to all of you for helping me realize that the secrets of a BAD MORMON make for a really GOOD read!!”
Several of her fellow RHOSLC cast members congratulated Heather on the upcoming release of her memoir, which is set to be published on July 26, 2022.
Whitney Rose shared how proud she was of her relative, as Heather and Whitney are third cousins. “Congrats Heather!! I am getting mine now,” she commented, alongside a heart emoji. “This is amazing! I’m so proud of you! Congratulations!” wrote Jen Shah in the comments.
Heather’s memoir delves into what it was like being born Mormon, her ties to “church royalty” and, later, navigating single motherhood and raising three daughters.
The mom-of-three opened up about the memoir in an interview with PEOPLE, saying, “A good Mormon would never write a book like this! I'm excited to tell my story and talk about the parts of my life that never make the TV screen. I hope that by sharing my experiences people will learn and grow from my mistakes, challenges and successes.”
